Haven’t seen a good movie like this in a long time.. highly recommended to watch.

As a combat solder (2/502 Inf 101st Airborne) ... we spent our entire tour on the DMZ mostly around the A Shau Valley near Laos... we never dealt with villagers/civilians, other than the odd wood cutters with their sons. I was the point man my whole tour and we had two older Vietnamese Rangers who worked with us. I often wonder what happened to them as I knew one man's family. We would often buy American cigarettes (as he couldn't) with his pay on "stand down" so he could increase his wages by selling them on the black market. Several of us even got family to send things like canned salmon to us as it was a treat for his family. We were patriots, and our lives were in each other Trooper's Hands. I spent 9 years Army before moving to Australia to teach. I never found out if he and his family were able to flee that country.

supposedly this is not based on a true story but a great friend of mine, JTAC "huggies" Hughes, was in a similar situation as this film and for his efforts after being left behind and surviving his ordeal, was disrespectfully given onlyt a mere achievemant medal... if anyone googles " Sir, tell the TACP thanks" you can read about just one of his deplpyments when he assisted in a medevac while calling in air, which was written by a general, dude is a rockstar that was never given the admiration he deserved and I get to call him my bro.
