11 Highlights from Primetime Emmys 2014: Breaking Bad, American Horror Story

Impromptu makeouts, a Weird Al performance, and a Gwen Stefani flub were just a few of the standout moments from tonight’s 66th annual Emmy Awards. Hey guys, you’re back at Clevver’s Trophy Life and tonight is all about the who’s who of television.
But naturally, being live telecasted award show with some of the biggest celebs ever, it’s not too surprising that there would be a few buzzworthy moments.
First there was Seth Myers’ monologue to open up the show. Pretty much everything was TV-based except for this quick little Bieber diss, because honestly, what late night talk show host can resist throwing a jab at the Biebs.

But on a lighter note, what do you get when you mix the Emmy’s and Billy on the Street? This exhibit of perfection.

Now for one of the best moments of the entire night. Part 1: Julia Louis Dreyfuss jokes to Bryan Cranston that he looks like her old guest star from Seinfeld. Part 2: Bryan Cranston politely …reminds her … ten minutes later on her while she’s on her way to accept the award for Best Actress in a comedy series.

Yes. That happened.
Next up was a bit more of a humbling moment from tonight’s show … I mean yes, I understand that one must be shocked to win an Emmy, but seriously, if anyone should NOT be surprised to win an Emmy, it is Kathy Bates. So this reaction… was absolutely priceless.
And while we’re on the topic of American Horror Story --- our next highlight is how freaking adorable the rest of the cast looked when the QUEEN of the show, Jessica Lange took home the award for Best Actress in a Miniseries, specifically, we are referring to Sarah Paulson.

But it wasn’t all just about the awards --- some of our favorite moments of the evening actually came from the presenters.
First of all --- before we get to the funnier moments, Billy Crystal helped present a beautiful Robin Williams memorial segment that left all of us tearing up. It’s night’s like these that really make us realize what a true talent we have lost.
But on a lighter note, there were also moments like when Amy Poehler and Seth Myers attempted to find the best and most creative way to introduce the leads of True Detective…

Then there was the always hilarious Key & Peele channeling their inner improv after deciding to turn off the teleprompter…

And yes, and there was also that moment when Gwen Stefani called The Colbert Report – The COLBER Report. Not a complete Adele Dazeem moment but a little funny nonetheless…

So how did Stephen respond? Well, there was no need, because Jimmy Fallon did it for him.

Now for some of our fave winners of the evening. Breaking Bad obviously cleaned up and we couldn’t be more happy for the cast and crew as it is their last year of eligibility for these awards now that the show has come to an end. But YEAH BITCH, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, AND Bryan Cranston all took home awards this evening and Aaron’s speech was definitely our favorite, mostly because of how adorably obsessed he is with his wife:

Seriously can we just take a moment to absorb how perfect those two are? Okay, sorry. Moving on…
Weird Al also made quite the appearance tonight, joining the one and only Andy Samberg on stage for a hilarious theme song medley, reducing even Game of Thrones and Scandal to nothing but boobs and quivering lips, respectively. But naturally, Andy wasn’t ready to let things go right away…

Clevver News MistyKingma My favorite moments from the Emmys were the Robin Williams tribute, Bryan Cranston winning Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Aaron Paul winning Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and seeing Key & Peele show off their improv skills. Bryan Cranston's acceptance was so awesome and so funny, but I'm so happy he won for Breaking Bad, and the same goes for Aaron Paul. Aaron's speech was so heartwarming and touching, and when he thanked his wife and informed everyone to take part of the Kind Campaign, he was just so moved and touched by the incredible things that his wife does, and I applaud Aaron for showing the love to his wife and to everyone at the Emmys. It just goes to show that love triumphs over everything. The Robin Williams tribute segment from Billy Crystal was touching and memorable. Robin will truly be missed. This was such a bullshit show. There is no way Martin Freeman could win against the heartbreaking performance of Matt Bomer in The Normal Heart.

I love Modern Family but Orange is the new Black should have won.

But we already knew this would be bullshit considering Tatiana Maslany didn't even got a nomination and Grimm was nominated for stunts while Arrow should have been in their place.
