It's really great to know that Joe Gibbs is a Hall of Famer in 2 different sports.

Gibbs was the best head coach ever. He won 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QB's. Who does that? The answer? No one else.

THE MOST underrated Hall.of Fame coach! I remember the good old days of the Hogs!

I actually met Gary Clark and Art Monk following the 1991 season. Thank you to my late father for bringing me to the Redskins Touchdown Club Dinner thst year. grand you to the late Fr. Kane, O.P. who was a Chaplain to the Redskins Touchdown Club and offered my father guest seating.

Thanks for the memories Joe! 🏆 🏆 🏆 fondly remember the ‘83 and ‘86 squads as well, and really that entire era as a whole 🏈😀

"i hated quarterback sacks" "riggins protecting the ball, theisman protecting when he throws and the defense taking it away" "protecting the quarterback is the most important thing" the difference between a legend and goat coach to what we currently have . the opposite of all 3 statements

I have been a HUGE fan of the Redskins my entire life, dating back to 1963. Every SB win and season are unforgettable. The win in SB 17 was somewhat unexpected when the season began. Beating Chicago in the divisional and then a hot Vikings team that led to the SB 22 win was incredible. However, the SB 26 win by the team that year was the culmination of one of the greatest single season performances by a team in NFL history. We steamrolled everybody that year and that team doesn't get the credit it deserves as one of the greatest teams in NFL history. Certainly, in the SB era they are the greatest and the analytics prove it.

In August 1991 I called into the legendary Ken Beatrice "Sports Talk" show. I predicted the Redskins would win the Superbowl that year. In his Boston accent Ken said "I don't see it, I don't see it" LOL. I explained the reason - two final acquisitions we needed that offseason; Jumpy Geathers at DT and Fred Stokes at DE. We WON! IMO that was the greatest Redskins team of all time.

Growing up watching those teams, that 91 team was unbelievable. He took mercy on the Bills. It could have been 75-38.

I remember every season wondering how far into the playoffs we would make it. Thanks for the great memories.

This man knew how to get his team ready to play. He coached in the best era of the NFL. Notice how Madden saw how hard the Redskin practices were. He knew how to give a team an identity. He won 3 SB's with 3 different QB's and none are in the HOF. I don't know what the hell they're doing over there now. It's embarrassing.

Joe Gibbs is the best HC ever. Win 3 SBs in 10 years with 3 diff QBs, no one else has done that and never will. Gibbs simply knew how to coach...

AMAZING, the Redskins against Miami were underdogs, even after beating the Cowboys in the NFL championship game.

To this day Coach does not like acknowledging that any of the great Redskin teams were ever favored or anything other than the underdog. The only thing I remember getting him upset back in those days was when he was reminded, usually by someone in the media, that his team was favored in a particular game. The Redskins were 16-2 headed into that Super Bowl against the BIlls. They were definitely not the underdog. In the preseason of that year the Redskins had been chosen by many to win it all. During a Q&A session with some reporters at that time someone asked Coach what he felt about being chosen by Playboy Magazine to win it all. I have never seen Coach react as angrily, in public, to a question as he did in that moment. It was hilarious and what it told me was that they were indeed probably win it all. And they did.

What made Joe Gibbs great is that he knew nothing about calling defense so he got Richie Pettibone to do that. He had the biggest coaching staff in the NFL and let Richie do his thing and Joe did his thing. They made it work. The players were prepared and they let their play speak for themselves on the field. Also want to let you know since Joe's first retirement, Washington has won two playoff games with only ONE other coach. Norv Turner in 1999. Joe was the same coach in his second return to win a playoff game in 2005.
