Factoring Trinomials (Leading Coefficient not 1)

Показать описание

In this lesson, we practice factoring trinomials. This video deals with a harder scenario, in which our leading coefficient for the trinomial is not 1. For this scenario, we have two choices, we can use a trial and error method, or we can utilize factoring by grouping. Here we use factoring by grouping to factor our trinomials. Basically what we need to do, is find two integers whose product is ac, and sum is b. We use these two integers to rewrite the middle term, and now we have a polynomial with four terms. We can then use factoring by grouping to get our factored solution.

I honestly don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found GreeneMath! You have been a life saver on ALL OCCASIONS! Thank you so much for explaining things so easily!

Thank you for helping me! I kept searching Youtube for the method to factor these trinomials without the use of the big X-which I first learned by, and my new teacher absolutely hates. Thank you for putting these into simpler terms! I will definitely pass on the video to others struggling. Thanks again.(:

THANK YOU. I'm usually pretty good at math, but this has been killing me. I think I finally get it now.

You're welcome, just keep practicing and it will become second nature.

For the last problem I solved this but reversed the order of -3x and -4x. Is there any reason this wouldn't be okay?

Your a Genius! But its way too many steps to remember.

Isn't the answer just (12x + 6) (3x + 2)?

Today, my last day of summer, and I have 1/3 of my math homework incomplete. I have searched everywhere for how to solve the trinomials that begin the assignment. Nothing. Even Khan Academy doesn't have anything. I tried GreenMath as a last resort, but guess D:< -ragequits-
