As a child welfare worker, we are supposed to demonstrate diligent efforts to encourage parents to complete their court orders to regain custody of their children. This shows how many, if not most, of these questions cannot be answered from a real-life or work experience perspective. Many parents who are ambivalent about completing their court ordered services due to feeling overwhelmed, do come around to fully engage, complete their orders, and regain custody of their children-with the support and encouragement of their foster care worker

There was a somewhat similar question on the ASBW practice exam where a battered woman wants to return with her children to her home where the abuser still lives. The incorrect answer was that the social worker should respect the client's decision. The correct answer was that the social worker should educate the client on the effects of domestic violence on children. I guess the difference is the one is a safety issue for the children.

Ray! Let me first start by saying THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for this amazing channel! Although I finished my MSW program in December, this is exactly what I needed. I passed my LMSW on the first try two weeks ago ☺️. I watched all of your videos and guess what, went back and watched all of them again! I made sure to understand each concept. Oh yes, let me not forget about the weekly Saturday sessions. I attended 6/7 of them which helped with my confidence and learning how to answer each question. All of your videos, sessions, and tips helped tremendously. The affirmation card and practicing mindfulness helped ease my anxiety. I’ve been telling all my social work friends because I know we don’t want to be licensed by ourselves ☺️🥺.

The answer to the first question just doesn’t seem realistic. B doesn’t seem empowering either. It seems more on the nonchalant side. I think in a real world experience, it would be worth exploring the clients disappointment. I understand how we got to answer B, but it doesn’t seem realistic. At the same time I understand that in order to pass the test you have to think like the test. 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Hmm, I dont know that D is stating the obvious! I felt that would be helpful knowing that she wants to keep her kids. Saying "you can choose" feels like I dont care what she does or what happens. I want to help her reach her goal.
