It is clear that the D7 visa is of great interest to anyone looking to immigrate to Portugal. However, there is another group of people who may have been born outside of the EU, i.e. the US, Canada, South America, etc., and who may also have an EU citizenship and passport simply because their parents or grandparents are, or were, EU citizens. Although it seems quite simple for anyone with an EU passport to immigrate to Portugal there are some differences since many of these people have never lived or earned a living in the EU. I believe it would be interesting to look at this particular situation in some detail. Just a suggestion ... about a group of people and potential subscribers to this channel ... perhaps.

I want to move to Portugal, I have plenty of passive income, I have substantial liquid assets and I have a clean criminal background but committing to a 12 month lease on a property sight unseen is a no go for me; how can you possibly know if the property and neighborhood is suitable for your needs?

Great info. I will likely be moving to Portugal in August. According to the Embassy, I have to make a reservation for an accommodation for one full year in order for my D7 Visa to be processed. I can certainly book an accommodation for one year, but must I remain at that same apartment if I find something better after, for example, 3-4 months? In other words, is the requirement to have an actual, written lease agreement that covers 1-year, or a conformed booking agreement for one year that I could cancel if I find something better after 3-4 months? The requirement of a one year rental agreement is completely fair, it’s fine. Peoples should not have a problem with that. I'm confused, at one stage they said you need 8, 000 EUROS in your bank account before you apply, and then later on they said 16, 000 EUROS? What amount is actually correct?

The last portion of the webinar was a bit confusing. As a married couple would we each be required to show a minimum amount in separate Portugal bank accounts. Or can we have a joint account but doubling the minimum requirement of approx 8k euro each? Thank you for clarifying.
