Worth mentioning that its certified for use with static ropes if a certain diameter in work positioning. Have used it for route setting and just as a lightweight descender. Not quite as purpose built as a descender specific device like the Petzel rig or even the Grillion vut i certainly found it served the niche i wanted it for well. The enhanced preciseness of belaying because of its direct attaching to the harness belay loop is a good point, which I didn't think of!
Another point of use of a (locking) karabiner for GriGri etc is that climbers sometimes forget locking (ok, there are auto-locking krabs, but many climbers still prefer conventional ones, like in this video). With Pinch, the risk is eliminated, which I think is a significant pro.
Edelrid's first Eddy years ago was awful in paying out a rope. It seems Edelrid has evolved a lot since 🙂

Some might not wanna hear it, but pinch is better. Has more functions, smoother. No reason tp chose grigri if you dont have an ass.belay device

5 pounds more expensive, but you don't need to buy a carabiner in order to use it. Can it be stoved away in the harness without one?

Nice review but would have been good to see a comparison with the Petzel Neox

for lead belaying, the pinch is superior on all but fatter ropes, where the neox excels. the grigri is still tops for TR. so basically, unless you know the ropes you’ll be using, bring 2 or 3 belay devices. j/k
