I think you can excuse the splatoon games because they are live service games. They get semi frequent updates rather than the others which get like a single dlc once in a blue moon

All of the games have been like that because it’s an online game, they need to keep it alive by giving more and more extra content slowly

Yeah they dropped the ball so bad with this game. A modern Wii Sports could have been a huge deal but they messed it up so bad with the online play focus and free updates

When this game was announced I literally pulled out the wii and played wii sports instead, nothing can beat the original

That's the problem with minimal content releases, people remember the version at release, not post-updates.


If they make a Tomadatchi life 2, I REALLY hope they don't take this route.

I wonder if they just kept the Miis front and center it would've sold better. The Wii Sports series is getting people nostalgic now as its players are growing up and they could've capitalized on it big time. Now it barely looks like the same series at all and that might have turned some people away.

Splatoon 3 and 2 had a whole story mode when they where released and just added to the online for the extra content

I remember being so hyped when the game came out, got it first day and played was fun the first week or so but ended up falling off. The weekly accessories where sometimes I couldn't get what I wanted was kinda annoying but the unfair match ups and glitchy control led me to stop and forget it

According to Wikipedia, Switch Sports barely makes Top 20 best selling switch games. It only lists around 8.5 million sales

Splatoon isn't bad for releasing content later, that's just how they keep the game relevant, and most of the content was there at launch, with only balance patches, extra game modes such as X Battle and online Tableturf that most players won't interact with, and a few new weapons and kits being added after launch.
