Force Startup Settings on Boot to Troubleshoot PC Problem

pc startup problems windows 10?
If you are having trouble booting into windows and want to troubleshoot it, but can't get into safe mode and any other options from Windows 10 USB or CD. Then you can try and enable Startup Settings from Bootable Windows 10 USB or CD. From startup settings, you can enable boot log, safe mode, debug and more. From there you can troubleshoot pc startup problems like reboot loop and stuck on windows logo screen or black screen of death on startup.

To enable the boot menu in Windows 10, type the following command.

bcdedit /set {globalsettings} advancedoptions true

or

bcdedit /set {default} advancedoptions true

To disable Startup Settings boot menu from auto-load on startup, type the following command in an elevated command prompt window.

bcdedit /set {globalsettings} advancedoptions false

or

bcdedit /set {default} advancedoptions false

------------------------------------------------

For Windows 7

To enable the boot menu in Windows 7, type the following command.

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

To restore the boot menu in Windows 7, type the following command.

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard

Good content for the do-it-yoursefer. I like to fix my own machines, and learn while I'm at it.

After keying in the code that you mentioned in your video, is shows “The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The configuration registry database is corrupt”.

Sir, is it possible to access Automatic Repair again after this command?

I followed the instructions, however, these options in the Startup Settings don't function. My laptop just casually shuts down.

I need your guidance. Thank you!

A better solution would be to restore the old F8 Key option to do that just enter the command prompt and enter bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy After you enter that you the F8 option during bootup will be restored and you will be able to enter Safe Mode much easily. Only need to do it once and it will always be there.

Hi, nice vid. However, I get the error: The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found.
Could you kindly advice what I should do?
Thanks.

These CMD Commands are very handy and I'm aware of most of them, when it comes to troubleshooting.
Thanks for what I would call, a refresh for me of these available commands.

Hi,

I have a few days since I try to fix my custom PC. It was working great for months, but in a evening, after I simply turned it on it came BSOD and error I tried to choose any options from Startup settings but it just goes in a loop. I tried to boot from a USB stick(Win11), I changed the settings from boot order, everything. I even tried another USB stick with Win10 (it just came a blank blue screen with this one). I have reseted the Bios, tried do disable secure boot, fast boot, go cms mode. I have tried all the solutions. In terms of hw, all my RAM looks normal in Bios, the SSD is read. I even used Secure+ erase to format SSD and try to load another Windows clean install. I am running out of solutions. Can you please help me? 🙏🏻
