Footage of Jayland Walker's Murder by Police Sparks Protests

Several large-scale protests occurred in Akron, Ohio, over the July 4th holiday weekend in response to the release of body cam footage involving the recent police killing of Jayland Walker.

Walker, a 25-year-old Black man, was reportedly shot more than 60 times while attempting to flee police, unarmed, during a June 27 traffic stop. 8 officers involved in Walker’s death have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is ongoing.
