That wire that was cut was to restrict it at 30 mph normally with it cut you go faster

maybe that wire on the CDI unit was cut to give it more RPM or Top speed. I use to have one of these and enjoyed riding it so much mine could hit a massive 42MPH. great video and I am glad you got it back on the road again.

Very practical. Aside from great economy it's a very visible yellow... and smaller wheels have quicker rebound on the bumps than the larger wheel setups...
I personally use dielectric bulb grease and a toothbrush to revive my plastics and rubber components... just wipe it all off to avoid dust clinging to it.

So ironic you put this out today. I literally just came in from reviving my 2002 50cc China scooter made by Geely. It hadn’t been run a few years and basically just needed a carb clean. So good when they come back to life!

The green wire has been cut to remove that 30 mph restriction, with the wire cut should get closer to 40 mph

I just bought a PCC Amor 50 from a guy who put a 70cc BBK on it. The carb was crappy, so I bought a new one(20mm), along with a new variator (6.5g rollers) and belt, and it is amazing now. Takes off like a car and can climb hills at 35mph. I think the full throttle jet needs attention though. Idles great, and then great low end power, but full throttle doesn't have any more power than say 1/2 throttle.. I will pull my spark plug to see which way it needs to be tuned. Timely video for sure. I got mine to make deliveries because 13mpg sucks...

When you solder you need to get heat in the wires so that it acts like a wick to the molten solder. It will soak it up and have a much stronger connection... It doesn't matter too much in that scenario but that's how soldering should be done 👌👌

As soon as I saw that the green wire had a clean cut, I instantly knew it was restricted via the CDI. I'd like to see a before and after top speed vid Joe. Cheers, Joe.

Good old GY6 50cc motor. GY6 engines are plentiful and very strong engines.

I owned a moped and saved probably around $5000 in fuel costs until I got hit by a geo metro at an intersection and died. Now I'm in heaven. The wifi hear is fast as fug

Being 65 years old I would love to have one of these little bikes to drive about a new childhood. Yet in Ontario Canada with an absolute clean (Car) driving history with not one ticket, or insurance claim or accident in 50 years, our insurance looks at me as a teenager with no driving history.... insurance is $2, 600.00 every year for at least five years. Yet complete coverage insurance on my new Dodge Caravan is less than a $1, 000.00 a year. (Canadian dollar is $0, 80 USA dollar). But a lovely little bike you have there!

These will run fine if you take care of them. I’ve put well over 10k km on a couple examples and they still ran fine when I sold em. Yes, that dash reads in km. These things generally get a bad rep over little things going wrong, then it stops running and the owner doesn’t know what to do.. it’s almost always something simple and cheap. I rode these things exclusively for several years.. fixed up a couple heaps in that time, rebuilt a couple engines, ect. Just be sure it’s not running too hot.. I disintegrated a piston that way once. I still daily two wheelers, it’s just a Honda 250 at The moment.

Also, that is a scooter. Mopeds have pedals. No peds= not moped.

There’s a ton of info on these things and easy mods/upgrades if you do a little googling.

There is usually a small spacer between the two halves of the variator (front pulley). It stops the two halves closing fully up and serves as a top speed restricter by limiting the effective “high”speed gearing. Remove it and you will have taller gearing and faster top speed. Low speed take off from a standstill is unaffected.

That scooter is much more your speed than any CR250 or even a CR or KX125 ! HAHAHA
You look like a perfect fit cruising around the nieghborhood on that yellow monster. Just be careful and don't hurt yourself on that beast.

That's a nice little town ripper. It don't matter if you get seen with it that's a smart idea cause it's great gas mileage to.
