When NFL draft hopefuls and current NFL athletes want to elevate their game, some seek out Rischad Whitfield, aka “The Footwork King.” Whitfield is a movement specialist who has spent a decade training Pro Bowlers such as Odell Beckham Jr., Xavien Howard, Eric Ebron, and Mecole Hardman to optimize the skills that have made them superstars in the league. NFL hopefuls like Notre Dame tight end Brock Wright and Penn State defensive end Jayson Oweh hire trainers like Whitfield and defensive/offensive line specialist Brandon Jordan to improve their skills in the hopes of boosting their status in the upcoming NFL draft and preparing to compete at the highest level of football. Insider spent four days at Whitfield’s facility in Houston as he and Jordan trained a handful of current and future NFL athletes just weeks before the 2021 NFL draft.

These players’ parents must be putting their entire bank accounts on the line to keep their kids in top shape. All these private classes for conditioning and training outside of regular highschool and college team routines.

I totally agree with his mindset on how to coach athletes. I worked as an athletic trainer at the D1/D2 level and I can certainly say athletes are 100% visual learners. You have to show them what you want them to do and once they understand they got it!

The structure and foot work being taught here are foundational to every sport or martial art, weapons skills……everything. It’s a thing of beauty to see these coaches cleaning up these athletes structure and footwork.

This was a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be. Always good to see things from a different lens.

It is amazing to see what the body can do! I am in awe of these trainers and how much they impact the lives of these men. I remember watching a video from Willie Whitehead Jr. of the New Orleans Saints talking about how big of a role mindset plays in training as well. The fact that he had such a long NFL career after being the under dog says a lot about the winning combination of both physical and mental training.

I don't want to hear anyone talking sh*t about how playing sports is easy or how these lads don't deserve the check
