I sent this to my brother as he’s a bit older and spent time with our uncle near Inchicore, he reminded me of a few things.
He recalls drinking in various pubs around there in the 90’s and our uncle pointing out people who were allegedly senior IRA or politically affiliated with the IRA

I remember seeing the former tough guy months later with no teeth and hobbling on crutches, the strangest part is never judge a book by the cover, it became common knowledge that the lead attacker was the mild mannered and pious primary school headmaster.
Almost 15yrs later the headmaster suddenly became a Sinn Fein councillor with loads of people shocked that this guy was in any way political
So if this guy said he was in the IRA and lived in inchicore, then he was or it suited the iIRA to let him pretend but they will have known
