Don’t Blow your Cruise Budget! I will talk about the many Hidden Costs & Unexpected EXTRA Charges of Cruising. I will review what is included in your base cruise fare and what you MUST pay for that was unexpected, plus other costs you could incur.

I understand that you saved your money and you're excited to go on your cruise. I don't want you to find out there are all of these additional fees that will blow your budget.

Let me review what you get for that advertised price and how much extra you can expect to pay before you share the exciting news with your family that you're going on a cruise. You want to make sure that those extra charges that are going to creep in are factored into your cruise budget vs breaking your budget.

In general, most of what I will discuss is true across the board for all of the major cruise lines. There are always exceptions, so check with your travel agent or the cruise line you're interested in to confirm all pricing.

Join the Cruise Savvy Family! We would love to have you.

ONE that I failed to mention is Daily Gratuities! You can prepay for them when you book or you will be charged $16-$18 dollars per day. These charges will be applied directly to your onboard account for you to pay at the end of your cruise. These gratuities get split between your dining staff, bar service, hotel staff and a few others. I usually tip on top of this depending on the service level I receive. It is up to you. Thank you @julieb7882 for realizing I missed this!!

Not to forget: With price of spa treatments there is an additional gratuity fee of 18 to 20 %, depends on cruiseline. If you book a spa treatment, access to the thermal spa suite is not automatically included, depends on cruise line.
Cruise fare: Additional fees, taxes and port charges are per person, not per cabin.

She is CORRECT... stick with ONE cruise line to swiftly accrue loyalty level points and the perquisites that come with it. Bouncing from one line to others will get you nowhere. With 39 cruises with CELEBRITY I'm 1/2 way to the TOP loyalty level Zenith. At 750 points I earned free drinks from 5-7 daily (no limit), 2 bags of wash & fold laundry, 2 items pressed and a dry-cleaned item PLUS 240 minutes of premium/high speed WI-FI as well as discounts ship wide.
