Nosferatu Movie Review - Robert Eggers is back with a fresh take on an old favorite. Nosferatu may be getting some big praise from a lot of critics but I found the film to be overlong and incredibly boring. Subscribe to hear my full take.

Robert Eggers isn't known for action movies. His movies are truly a slow-burn. He's a great director but audiences have to realize what to expect.

Movie was excellent. Nosferatu essentially is the same exact story as Bram Stoker's Dracula directed by Coppola done with a smaller budget, smaller scale and lesser known cast but arguably done better. Modern audiences only understand jump scares and in your face gore but cant seem to understand the true elements of horror has always been atmosphere, tension, suspense and mystery.

It was exactly what I expected it to be, which was good, but I was hoping it would pleasantly surprise me. Alas, it didn't. I give it a 7. Worth seeing once.

Why do film reactions and reviews when you aren’t knowledged enough to appreciate it. This is embarrassing

My older sister felt that it was a bit long too. But it didn't tire her. We were mesmerized by the film the whole time. Just wish we had better seats. The whole room was packed and only the first few front row ones were available.

It uses a narrative and visual framework that is chock full of archetypes, but it isn't homage. Plus, the complaint about the "story" is strange, considering the german expressionist style. Eggers Nosferatu even resembles Nietzche, lol.

I thought it was excellent and that Araron Taylor Johnson was excellent in it. Then again, there's no accounting for taste.

Completely agree! Honestly, I left the theater thinking, “Why was I laughing at times and what was it so goddamn long worth so little substance?” I don’t know. It was a miss for me.

The sad truth is that this is an extremely well done movie for a different generation. The luxury of patience is lost on people like this reviewer who cannot seem to piece together a story without extensive handholding

Sacrilege! How could you, Adam?! Either way, always appreciate your reviews.

I had the exact reaction.

Padded, protracted, pedantic.

Gorgeous visuals and production design.

Shame about Orlock.

Shame about some of the performances.

The supporting cast were the best thing about it.

I applaud Eggers for not OVER homaging the first 2 iterations and Skarsgård for having little vanity about playing the vampire, but the voice he chose...?

The audience I viewed it with laughed out loud and not from nervousness but because it was laughable.

Bad look for a gothic like this.

6/10

There are audiences WALKING out of the picture.

Eggers is probably another one trick pony like Chazelle and Refn.

The Witch was terrific.

Everything else?

Meh.

Egger’s films are very slow burns but when that fire is finally ignited my god does it burn bright. I think part of the reason I’m able to give his movies more patience is because I’m consistently rewarded for it.

Nosferatu has always been a cheesy vampire story.

About the complete opposite from everything else I've heard about this movie.

I agree. The dialogue was far too on the nose with no subtext, and a bore of a third act. I don’t get the hype.

If you like it, cool, but it wasn’t for me.
