Yes, the film is beautiful. The music and atmospheric sounds are superb. But the acting diminished my enjoyment, as in overacting. Mostly Count Orlok with his sluggish, emphatic delivery, but also a scene or two with Thomas. The troupe does manage the scenes with emotional twists and turns winningly, especially Ellen (wow). You call Willem Dafoe's performance over-the-top, but I found his steady and winsome composure a relief compared to the melodramatic embellishments of his fellow cast members. I'd rate it a three out of five. Viewed: the extended cut. Favorite vampire film: LTROI.
