We should try and drill for oil in Mars just to see if there was an abundance of life in the distant past. I'm sure an oil company would fund the mission.

Extrapolating this logic with his ethical question, it does add a bit of validity to the fact that life on Earth could’ve come from somewhere else. Since we are so worried that the introduction of a microbe from here could affect or even accidentally produce life on a place such as Europa. We won’t know for sure for a VERY long time if we ever know, but it’s interesting to think about.

The best way to do it is to core not to scoop. Core a sample and cap it off. Even if the outside of the sample is contaminated by the tool the inner core will be untouched. Make the tool interchangeable so that each tool is also the container. Cap it off and grab your next tool.

Can we get a whole episode speculating about what fish on Europa might look like?

Yeah. The surface of Venus makes the Tenth Level of Hell look like a vacation in the Maldives.

I cannot agree more with Dr. Kipping on his comment about landing an object on a distant planet, the to do so consistently. Till this day it amazes me especially when considering all of the factors they need to take in. Factors that NOBODY has ever visited to witness, a wait for it mazing.

I’m excited about the Da Vinci missions. Completely new technology using silicon as computer chips and servos replacing metal due to heat and pressure from the atmosphere.
