What have your experiences with Waffle House been like?

In college, we’d frequently take study breaks at the Waffle House at I75 and Northside in Atlanta. There was a waitress named “Mama” who knew us and called us her “babies”. One night when we went there, she wasn’t there but a new waitress was. No one knew what happened to Mama. A year or so later, we were on Buford Hwy and decided to stop in a WH there and guess who was waitressing? Mama. She remembered us and started yelling at the cook, “These are my babies!”

I was conceived behind a waffle House. Mom was a server, dad was a cook. If that's not a love story, idk what is..

Virginia, born and raised. Some of my best and.most cherished memories from my teen years (80s) was having breakfast any time,
day or night with my daddy at the WH. He loved that place and all the servers knew his name and his order. Pork chop dinner, hashbrowns scattered smothered, covered, chucked, peppered, slapped around, upside down( dad jokes, roll my eyes)
After daddy passed in 94 I never went there again. Until this year when I needed a job. Just walking in the door, the smell of coffee and waffles brought back bittersweet memories. Tasting the delicious, waffle house coffee blend was like a momentary gut punch of forgotten fewlings and associations but I am so happy to be on the other side of the counter now, helping make memories for other families.

As a member of a touring band in the mid 90's Waffle House was an inexpensive, belly filling meal open 24/7

I've been with waffle house just shy of 10 years. I was fortunate to have been at 1 location since it opened. I cooked the first meal there. Now I am the night manager and have quite a following of customers. I love this job and this company. One year one of my servers working with me on new years eve got a call that her house had caught fire. Destroyed the bed room and kitchen. She finished her shift. The next day our division manager handed her an envelope with a thousand dollars in it. He lied and said he took a collection but we know it came from his pocket. Again, a great company.

It was in 1976 when I first had hashbrowns scattered and smothered. I was raised in Atlanta, and this was at a WH near my aunts (Clairmont and I-85, the store was torn down decades ago, and rebuilt across the interstate). The waitress knew us, and knew of my love for onions. She told me that some of the truckers that came in asked for their hashbrowns to be scattered (instead of in the ring) with onions grilled with them, and wanted to know if I would like to try them. I never had regular hashbrowns again.

I went to waffle house one time and the Cook was so impressive! His entire restaurant was full and had to go orders, but he was getting that sh&t done. Yes, it took a little longer… But he was doing it. Some customer had the nerve to complain about the time it was taking. I tore that dude a new one and left a big tip for the staff. Rude people piss me off.

I've been pretty impressed with waffle house . Couple weeks ago some guy had been on an hour long tirade, cussing and yelling about something of which none understood and finally the staff told him he could quiet down or leave. He left but came back in acting like he was going to attack one of the waitresses but one of the regular customers sent him back out the door at gun point . You don't mess with the waitresses lol

Where do they find the staff? Everybody is really good! I never see a bad cook or an incompetent server! Unbelievable consistency.

I went to a Waffle House in Biloxi, MS 15 years ago. The cook was the most impressive worker I have ever seen. He somehow could take non-stop orders while cooking and not write anything down. It was amazing!

I was the maintenance man for several WH franchisees in the southwest for almost 20 years! Definitely saw some interesting things! One of my restaurants was a favorite hangout for Mike Tyson and featured in the movie “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” There were definitely good and bad times but all in all the adventures made it worth it 🤪

Rudolph Dobbs of Mableton ga was the electrician that wired the first waffle house after hooking the sign up he asked Joe if he had any coffee, Joe replied I just made the first pot. Rudolph Dobbs drank the first cup of WH coffee. It was a great honor to know Rudolph Dobbs.

We were visiting Great Smokey Mountains National Park this past June and we ended up staying until past 10 pm...by which time every restaurant in the area was closed except for the two Waffle Houses. I took my family to the Waffle House in Pigeon Forge TN and it was a hoot. My wife had the Pecan Waffle. My kid had the patty melt but when they saw i went with the fried eggs, bacon and covered, chunked scattered hash browns they all helped themselves to my plate. Ordered some grits and sausage gravy to offset the rest of my dinner/breakfast comfortably sitting in my family's belly. The staff was short (one of the waitresses quit) and it was busy but all were locals and we had a great time there. Too bad no Waffle House in Wisconsin (we have our local version called George Webbs so we are not that bad off) but it was a grand old time! Love the Waffle House!

We no longer get checks in cash anymore 😢 I use to love this feature. I have been working for WH since 2010. I am what they call a rockstar I am a grill op and a server. I love my job and yes I have all my teeth 😂
