Are you living the life that you post?

A Social Life is a short film about a career driven woman named Meredith who's living the life she's always dreamed of... online. Meredith strives to live a balanced life: staying fit, working hard and connecting with her friends; she is creating her "image" within her broader social media friend base. But she awakes one day and realizes that her reflection is merely the collection of photos that she has shared with others. Is this her life? Or just a carefully curated brand?

Kerith Lemon is a writer, director and creator with rich experience in multi-platform storytelling and creative narratives. Driven by her passion for stories that emotionally connect, Lemon is drawn to narratives that elevate women, mirror societal complications, and create dialogues amongst a broad audience. Her directorial debut, A Social Life, premiered at the Canberra International Short Film Festival, where it was awarded the prize for Best International Actor and most recently has won Best Ladies First Short at the Lady Filmmakers Festival in Pacific Grove, CA. It will continue to screen at film festivals throughout 2016.

I quit social media 3 years ago, the one thing I noticed is that ppl think something is wrong with you for not having social media, they always look at me weird .. and I think that's why ppl can't quit, I don't give a shit though, I married my best friend and have 2 beautiful kids, I don't need to be liked by everyone ..lol

The only reason why I never had a social media is

The sad truth about social media is that people want to decorate their instagram stories and their page rather than their lives. They want to make their "social media life " exciting rather than their actual real life.

Social media isn't for socializing anymore it's all competition now for the most likes and most "friends"

People without social media tend to be more interesting.

I deleted social media last year of December 2019 when I felt my anxiety rising again. It was taking a toll on my relationship and on my anxiety. Every post I saw made me overthink my relationship, who I am as a person. After not using it for awhile, has made me happier. So trust me, when you delete social media, it makes life easier on yourself & you tend to forget that there was such thing as “comparing yourself to others” & “competition”

Social media, honestly gives me Anxiety and depression. I stop using it when I realize that and to be honest with you, I have been really happy now, happier than ever actually. Social media isn't for everyone especially for people struggling with low self esteem. I feel so free just living my life without it.

It’s not social media, it’s the way one uses it. I left Instagram three years ago. I’m on Facebook only to keep up with family and childhood friends. I’m rarely on Twitter.
I’m on YouTube the most, just watching videos. I’m not involved in a social media platform that revolves around likes or followers.

When tweets and likes become more important than living. A film hard to the point of social media addiction. Well Done.

I think the healthiest way to use social media is to keep in contact with people we have real relationships with when they are not close by at the moment. To share and learn new skills, attain info. etc. Everything else should be done in person, live your real life.

I miss the 90's era where there's no social media and internet. No smartphones either but people lived happily myself included. 😊

This is true. For most people it's hard to live the life you actually want, so you just take a nice picture and try to be satisfied with that. Instagram is a good place for sharing the highlight of your days but inevitably it tends to become a competition for validation and the lack of it could make you feel less valuable as a person. She tried to pose for her friends/family via social media, maybe to regain a sense of self-worth and normalcy, in the end she knew she was only lying to herself and creating an unhealthy obsession, it wasn't enough to take pictures of her life anymore, instead she wanted to actually live it. It's hard, but not impossible.

I quit social media 2 years ago and it happens to be one of my best decisions. Improved peace of mind and quality of life. People often ask me what do I do whole day if not social media and that makes me feel pity for them, for that is all they do.
