Capacitors I

Parallel plate capacitor is formed by two parallel metal plates separated by an insulator. The capacitance of the capacitor is defined as C=Q/V. As charges of opposite sign are stored at the two metal plates, the potential difference across the two plates will increase proportionally and the proportional constant is the capacitance.
