So, basically, Anson Mount being so darn likeable to cast, crew and fans is the main reason we have one of the most 'Star Trek' feeling Star Trek shows in a long time, and a rare case of a prequel being good? Gotta give the man kudos for that! I never warmed to Discovery, and I think they're better off in the 32nd century, but I'm glad they gave us Pike.

Sean's voiceover of "remarkable leadership, meritorious conduct, and acts of personal bravery" aligned to scenes from "The Elysian Kingdom" is chef's kissing editing 🥲

Strange New Worlds is the first Trek series I’ve been excited about in a long time. It’s not easy getting good chemistry from a large cast, and Anson Mount as captain helps pull it all together.

After that scene when he entered the Boreth Monastery and got a glimpse of his future and endured it for his duty to Starfleet, that medal became more meaningful. I didn’t know about that code used by pilots flying over Iraq. Thanks Sean.
Have a Happy New Year to you all from Trek Culture. 🎉

The baseball tram from Festus 3 mentioned in DS9 is the Pike City Pioneers, so HR must have been there in one of his missions. We may see it in a future episode in SNW.

Even with a single season released, Pike as portrayed by Anson Mount is already one of my favorite captains. I'd probably rank my personal preference in captains as Picard, Sisko, Pike, Archer, Kirk, Janeway, Dal, Freeman, Burnham. I'm not including Lorca since he wasn't the "main" captain of the show, but if I did include him I'd probably put him between Dal and Freeman. I don't think Pike would go any higher, but who knows, it'd be hard to unseat Picard and Sisko in my mind.

5:34 I feel oddly... influenced. Subliminally, even.

Love Anson hate everybody that hates discovery. My reason iz there are really only 2 true reasons not to like it and I don't like either reason. Sexism and/or racism

As a child in the 70s, I vividly remember watching the pilot and adoring Captain Pike. I cried at the end, and when the series continued with Captain Kirk, I hated him and kept asking about Captain Pike. I'm not enough of a Trekkie to know why things changed and they didn't carry on the series with Pike, and was too little at the time to understand.

Adrian Holmes' (Uncle Phil) version of April was spot on for me. I was happy this change. Anson Mount just steals the role IMO.

Anson Mount is such a great addition to the hall of fame of Trek captains. We don't give him and the writers nearly enough credit for making the 8th (or 10th, depending on how you count) major recurring Captain somehow different and yet compelling in a unique way.

Well one thing I never knew, Kenny playing both an officer on the Enterprise and as wheelchair-bound Pike, bu tthen I guess the makeup did disguise him a lot... :P

There was a time before I supported this channel when my life was empty and lacking in meaning. It was a dark time then... Now... Well... I do get to leave these comments. That's... a thing. SUPPORT!

I really like Anson Mount's portrayal of Pike. He doesn't have a stick up his ass with his crew. He's relaxed, friendly, he doesn't distance himself too much. He's only shown his 'troubled' side with Spock and Una. He's not afraid to call his bridge by their given name, with the exception of Spock and Uma. Pike also isn't afraid to inject humor. The best example is in the second Gorn episode. He tells those going down to the planet, that he will turn the station wagon around if they don't behave. Yet, he does have a temper, which he used against Helmsman Erica in the final episode. I'll bet anything he was happy to show his comedic side in the fantasy episode. I really hope they show even more of his different sides. Sometimes Star Trek creators wait several episodes or seasons before broadening a character. Anson's Pike is light years different from Jeffrey Hunter's. The closest I've seen so far is Bruce Greenwood's Pike. He shows his sense of humors. There's a always a twinkle in both their eyes. You don't know what to expect. I can't wait for season two. I hope they will have Bruce come on as a different but well known Star Trek character.

Hi from regarding "Strange New every other series of Star Trek we have seen at some point onboard Enterprise either in Captains quarters or some lounge aboard the ship a scene of every ship called "Enterprise". My question is if a scene of such is shown in "Strange New Worlds" will we see the Enterprise NX-01? In NO OTHER series have we seen the NX-01 included in any of photographs or models displayed to view on the ship.

At least you said Puget Sound correctly. Most people say "Poo"get sound. It's basically the Seattle area.
