Got any mods you're excited about?

Problem for me is that on forge there are cooler mods(or idk harder mods)idk how to say it, on fabric there arent mods like timeless and classics and things but we'll see if a modloader makes it possible.

its funny to watch people fight which is better and having arguments about it while i just play both at the same time

Man the introduction of Fabric and Quilt split the modding community irreversibly into a group of people throwing shit over a wall at eachother. Not saying either is better or worse, I just think we’re only getting worse from here

One thing I hate about modded minecraft is that it leaves me conflicted which version and which modloader to play on because things constantly change, moment I begin to settle on certain minecraft version due to solid modbase, another version comes out with similarly solid modbase + with additional mods connected to recent vanilla content and mods that exist for prior versions with more features, making me unable to settle down on any particular minecraft version.

Switching to playing newest version every time minecraft updates also doesn't make sense to me, due to newer versions not having as much mods from older versions and appealing new mods that don't exist for prior versions, not allowing me to update my personal modpack properely. It doesn't help that minecraft updates fairly quickly, so I don't have time to settle down on last minecraft version.

I'm tired of years of dilemma, I'm seriously considering leaving minecraft entirely and moving to minetest which although with shitty modbase right now, has much higher modding potential than minecraft and hopefully will not have situation where I constantly have to remake my personal modpacks due to updates and all that stuff...

Sorry if comment is pointless, I've just decided to went on here.

It is still very alive, Quilt is basically still very weak fabric does not have the mod support yet. Neo is too new to know what will happen.

i dont mind the video content, but if you cant cite sources to show "Forge is dead!" then you really need to, not telling the whole story is misinforming the community, fragmenting it further, going against what forge and neoforge desire.

after years of using forge, I finally switched over to Neoforge 1.20.1. Honestly, its absolutely outstanding compared to the old Forge. I highly recommend it. For shaders- you can use embeddium and oculus, which is also a huge upgrade to optifine. Im honestly optimistic about Neo and I hope it gets more support. I think its a good choice to be forge compatible for 1.20.1 and below, and then change it up for versions above that. Forge doesnt really have any new versions last time I checked, so neoforge can finally focus on fixing what Lex ignored. I hope neo gets the attention and support it deserves.

Forge (now neoforged) is better for me, since I look for interesting and creative mods (I know that in fabric there are but in forge there are many more and better) and more and more optimization mods appear in forge but fabric is still better for optimization and utility mods Both are good modloader

I really think the hate for forge is very unneeded, most of it has nothing to do with forge in the first place, here, lets go down and see all the (most popular) terms of hate I’ve seen;

1.”my pc crashes when i open it, too laggy”
Its not like there ISNT optimization mods for forge too? Rubidium, Oculus, LazyDFU, MemoryLeakFix??? All of these mods do the same as others. And don’t complain about it if the only fault is you, for not having a computer powerful enough to run it.

2. “Fabric better”
Tell me a single fabric mod that changes the game as much as forge mods do. Wither storm? Going to space? Creating anything you desire using machinery? All the fabric mods are mostly lightweight, adding a couple things here and there

3.”forge old”
Man, buddy, just because something is old does not mean its bad, it still remains as one of the most popular mod loaders to this day. And in my opinion, i SERIOUSLY don’t get why there are about (what is it, 4, 3?) mod loaders, i would have thought 2 was enough, but the people at fabric had to fork it for a third time.

Thats all i gotta say, apologies for ranting

I came back recently in the Minecraft community after like 3-4 years without starting Minecraft, and I was like: "WTF is fabric ?" since I know about Minecraft modding since ~2012 and all we have was Forge. And apparently yeah it's know the new "prevalent" mod loader for Minecraft, and it really splitted the modding community, between ppls stuck in 1.12.2 with Forge and new ppls that all says Fabric is better blahblah... From what I saw Fabric seems to have a lot of performance mods, but not every cool mods that Forge had are compatible with Fabric. I think it's a 50~50, they are both goods for different reasons.

Honestly forge isn't dead.
Lex just got kicked out of the team.
The reason of the rebrand was. Lex was basically holding all that is relevant to the IP.
So they HAD TO rebrand because lex is an asshole (stated by himself).

So try kicking your effective CEO out that has literally all the power causes this.

What this will mean for the future of forge/neoforge?

Simple all forge devs will drop forge and adopt neoforge.
And from what i have seen it will be relatively trivial to switch over.

Forge will not continue unless lex wants to compete.
But neo forge is also a whole reset for the community.
People who were banned by lex or others (me included) get a second chance.
That can open a ton of doors.

Also side note: chunky is made by "pop" not by me. But i dont mind giving him a shoutout! He is a friend! So no worries there xD

Also "i am not a drama channel" yet this title xD i call SUS! (JK)

I still use forge for a big custom modpack lol, guess I’ll just have to adapt to neoforge soon, hopefully the mods in my pack has a eventual port soon

I feel like NeoForge being a hard fork is a bad idea in the sense I don't think it'll become particularly widely used. Lemme explain: (text wall incoming)

The problem I think the team will face is that there's a good chance a lot of mods either won't be ported or devs just won't bother to make mods for more loaders - being a mod dev myself I know it's quite a pain to port - for example, it was already quite a slog for modders to port or switch to Fabric if they chose to at all, now with a third loader I doubt they'll particularly want to, especially if there's big changes under the hood when it comes to coding the mods. Even if a lot of people switch to NeoForge there's still gonna be a massive amount of mods for Fabric and especially original Forge that won't be available to any users that want to run NeoForge, reducing appeal to users as well and developers. Imo the better way of doing things is how Quilt are operating right now: they're picking up speed and users quite fast because while virtually all Fabric mods run on Quilt, not all Quilt mods run on Fabric. That's the important difference - Quilt offers something exclusive to users and developers with little to nothing to lose in the process. This means even users who don't particularly care will likely wind up switching from Fabric if one of the mods they want to use is Quilt exclusive because there's simply nothing to lose and they get to play with more cool mods.
Basically, I feel like NeoForge will struggle to get a solid community because of the fact they're a hard fork and in my opinion it would be better to do things closer to how Quilt are operating.

Sorry for the text wall lol, just felt I'm put my thoughts here and who knows if you'll read this Lunar but if you do keep up the good work, your videos are great!

Nah the normal forge is still in development. Forge is still getting updates and is updating to 1.20.2 which is after this video was created
