I cant stop imagining the 16 year old cinema employee who just opened up shop, ready for some chill first hours and Joe comes in “I would like to order everything you can find in this place”

Throughout this I couldn't stop thinking about how this must have been the most expensive Food Wars episode yet.

Woah, an editing error at 5:18!
Someone in the US clearly edited this and added in a pack of American Smarties fizzy sweets, not the UK chocolate Smarties 😲

as a european watching this show i do appreciate Harry's way of explaining each snack that i am familiar with for american viewers but i would like it if Joe could explain American snacks too because what on earth is a coke freestyle and milk duds and all the rest

I actually currently work for odeon, this is a pretty accurate video other than a couple of things. The picture you used for smarties is the American smarties, in the uk they’re a completely different thing, sour patch kids aren’t US exclusive, we sell them too and the Cadbury buttons topper on the popcorn is a smaller size bag not the sharer bag that you showed. Good job though guys

The picture they showed for the UK smarties has triggered me greatly.

The “butter-flavor toping” is soybean oil with artificial butter flavor. I used to work at a company that ran a small independent theater in NYC, and we tried to use real butter, but people actually hated it, so we switched to the fake stuff. 😂

Okay I worked at AMC for about a decade as crew, then supervisor, then manager…

One of the best things that ever happened is in my small town rural theater, a little boy with a British accent came up to me and asked for “more dressing” for his popcorn haha

Also, we popped our popcorn with coconut oil and the buttery topping was flavored soybean oil.

The menu at AMC was going to be pretty expansive at one point I was in a test market that was trying out the new feature fare menu and the amount of variation in hot dog toppings and hot food offerings (including chicken and waffle sandwiches and burgers) was pretty expansive.

The UK use to have a melted butter option, early 2000's it got phased out. I recall having to double bag to prevent complaints of people getting covered in butter - this happened a lot.

It’s so funny I remember coming out of the cinema in London and getting on the tube with a Large drink from Odeon and quite a few people commented to me on how crazy big the drink was which shows you how little we have large soda sizes (not at all). If that was the US no one would have even blinked twice

Odeon used to sell butter for popcorn many years ago. Well, it was called butter, but the bottle it came in was called "Butter biz - the biz without the butter", and was basically some sort of yellow vegetable oil with flavouring. The nacho cheese was notorious for eventually melting the little ladels used to serve them.

From someone that works in a UK cinema, i can tell you that a large popcorn costs the cinema less than 12p to make, and it is sold for around £6. It always amazes me how much people love the food (and think its worth the price) when its realistically worth so little.

Building a pick-and-mix cup is a skill to fill as much as possible and force that lid on so you can pay the cup price (about £5-£8 depending on cup size) instead of pay by weight. I use millions to fill in any gaps in my layers.

Haha when you said fresh popcorn I giggled. From a former odeon employee it’s not usually popped on site. 85% comes pre popped in this big bales and we just put it in the warmers. We did occasionally make fresh salted but only during weekends/holidays.

I am genuinely shocked the UK has Candyking (one of the biggest pick'n'mix brands ever). Until now, I was only used to seeing it in Nordic store shelves, especially in Finland, and was saddened when everyone else I knew outside the country didn't know about it. Candy pick'n'mix is very underrated imo, and should be everywhere, even if it's more effort and more expensive than just picking up a candy bag.

I used to work at an Odeon and with the drinks the drink itself was always the next size down but then just topped up with ice. Most also do a kids size one (which I think was 12 fl oz) and not many did the 44 fl oz one with 32 being the largest (not many cinemas do the 44 oz one unless it's just a London thing). With the Ice Blasts the red is Cherry and the blue is Blue Raspberry and you can also get other flavours such as Cola, Strawberry and Lime, Orange, Bubblegum (we do the latter two at the cinema I currently work at). Also before I left Odeon (which was about 7/8 years ago now) we started the "Load it Up" range which was being rolled out to other branches but this included the beef hotdogs, chips (and lattice fries), more nachos toppings than the standard Salsa and Cheese (guac and sour cream). Some branches will also have a fully operational bar and some a Costa Coffee, problem is many Odeons are different depending on the size of the store and the location

Something I love from watching the older episodes, is that you see Harry get more and more confident and become besties with Joe

As a Brit I don’t think putting butter on popcorn is weird at all, butter makes everything better…

None talking about the way Harry said "Jalapeños" 💀💀💀
