Razer Viper 8KHz Performance Review

My Razer Viper 8KHz Review & Accuracy Testing ✅ Overall this mouse has been really confidence-inspiring when playing games like CS:GO, even at 2000 Hz polling-rate things felt lightning-quick and super-responsive. Whilst I didn't mind using this ambidextrous shaped Viper 8K as my daily driver, the mouse felt solid in my hand and well-balanced. I much prefer the design of DeathAdder or Basilisk mice from Razer, even if they're running at a maximum polling rate of 1000 Hz.

Probably my least favourite thing about the Viper 8KHz was the scroll-wheel as it felt rather stiff, well-built and everything but I felt like it required a bit too much effort to scroll and left me wanting to go back to the Basilisk V3 that I was using before. For around 40 USD or £40, this mouse is a great deal especially if you're already rocking a high-refresh-rate monitor and are looking to optimise your setup just that little bit more.

One important thing to note is that super-high polling rates of 8000 Hz or even 4000 Hz might cause some games to stutter or drop frames (some game engines just don't support polling rates of 4KHz or 8KHz). When playing competitive in CS:GO I actually had to turn the polling rate down to 2000 Hz to minimise stuttering. However, when playing on a 128 tick server offline, 8000 Hz was absolutely fine. If you do experience stuttering with 8KHz or 4KHz, it's worth trying to adjust DPI setting on your mouse as I read some people reported stuttering with low DPI settings of 400 or 800 but no issues at higher DPI settings.

Games like Overwatch, Valorant, Call of Duty and CS:GO do seem to support 8000 Hz polling rates but may require some tweaking to minimise stuttering or FPS drops (Apex Legends seems to only work with a maximum of 2000 Hz). If for whatever reason you're running into issues when using the mouse at 4KHz or 8KHz on a certain game or program, you can always set up an auto-switch profile on Razer Synapse 3 to drop the polling rate down to 1000Hz or 2000Hz when using that software.

Probably the only mice which is perfekt for lefties in general if you also want a high end product, too...
Just for RGB lovers it's a bit less.

I'm currently using either the Titanwolf or the Empire Gaming mice. But you can notice for what they are of course those are totally doing their job specially for this very low prices, but you can also totally notice a more expensive famous brand mice is still better. ( by my own expierience and testing)
It's really sad all the gaming industry is forgetting about lefthanded people. We may be rare, but we DO EXIST! (I even bet because no one is thinking of us Razer would sell pretty much of it because there is bassically nearly no selection)

Thx for the review and detailed test (even if the video is already older)

Been using the Viper 8k for 5 months and love everything about. But one thing that bugs me is that the wire gets tangled frequently while playing games. Because I play in 400dpi and low in game sens I have to move the mouse quiet a lot. I would love to see a Viper 8k Wireless
And I have used many razer mice before but only this one has on-board storage for RGB, macro etc. need this feature in all razer mice and keyboards

there are a few flaws with the viper 8khz

the mouse cable outlet on the mouse is way too low, almost NO OTHER Razer Mouse got a cable outlet at that position for a good reason, it can slow down your mouse moving it will feel very sluggish the only fix is to cut a bit of that away so it doesnt touch the mousepad anymore.

another major flaw is that most pc's including mine weren't ready for such high polling rates back when they were built (in my case 2017), which means you can't fully use the potential unless you very recently built a new Computer (or upgraded Mainboard and CPU) i use that mouse for nearly 2 years now.

some tips for everyone considering to run that mouse:

if you have built a new Computer go for as high on polling rates as you don't get micro stutters (those occur when the onboard chip on your mainboard which handles usb input is overwhelmed and your CPU has to kick in to handle the data this is causing the stutters).
Buy Glass Mouse Skates they are a great addition, aswell as cusatom griptapes.

Also you will most likely feel that your mousae will feel sluggish just carefully cut away parts of the cable protector on the mouse cable outlet until it doesn't touch the mousepad anymore.
Mostly a problem with soft mousaepads e.g. Roccat Taitos, QcK Heavy etc.

Another Problem might be the super light mousae cable itself it is very comfortable it is very soft and is very light, which leads to tangling which can be prevented using a mouse Bungee

There were some major design flaws made on that mouse which might have been intentional to make the customers buy the wireless version of the Viper aka the Viper v2 pro (no 8khz Polling rate mode)

I bought the 8k when it first came out and had a lot of issues using it in CSGO and Valorant. It would cause the game to slowdown and stutter badly like you experienced. I thought maybe it was because my CPU was getting older (i7 7700), so I tried it again when I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 5600x and an RTX 3080 and it still does the same thing. Bummer, because it's a neat idea. It works fine when I dial down the polling rate in Synapse, however that sorta defeats the purpose of the mouse and I ended up just using my Viper Ultimate instead. It also works at 8khz when just browsing on my desktop without any lag/stutter and it doesn't seem to affect my CPU usage a lot, so I, too, think it's just something with the way it behaves with game engines. Great review though, glad to see you back.

ive had my razer 8khz for 1 or 2 years, and lately, its beginning to rattle, but it only happens with my left click. When I slightly put pressure on the button it stops. So i wonder how I can fix the rattle. Because its annoying to hear and sometimes it feels weird clicking on it
