I got one recently. It's cool to have but i agree it can be dangerous.Keep out of reach of children.Don't shine in mirrors, windows and other glassy objects that can pontentially reflect back into your or somebody's eyes.I don't shine it South outside my house cause we got multiple close neighbours.North of us is an open field which is perfect for using it as long it's clear of farmers.

Thanks man. I never knew infrared could leak out. Love your vids too very informative.

Whoever breaks into my apartment is getting lit on fire and blinded with mine

Survival Lasers (The company from the link you listed in the video description) has a pair of goggles that protect your eyes from these dpss lasers. They are only 60 bucks too, which is only $10-20 more than a pair that wouldn’t block unfiltered IR light. Just pick those “Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 800-2000nm Laser Safety Goggles” even the $50 “190-540nm & 900-1700nm” pair would suffice.

Excellent video!! I've never seen a green bluish laser before. Very useful information, the next time I'm gonna buy a laser with IR light filter lol!
But, could you tell me how the IR light affects to the human eye?

IR wavelength laser emissions, pointed from any distance into an eye, are going to be very likely most hazardous. When using these green laser devices emitting around 530 nm, of the power and technology you're discussing, and pointing the beam either into the night sky for amateur astronomy purposes, or bouncing its brilliance off a painted white interior wall surface, from say 5 to 20 feet away, under such conditions how would you judge safety? That is, when the beam will always be pointed directly away from any person's eyes? Very interested in the risk assessment for that type of use of these devices. Many thanks indeed for your excellent video presentation :-)

would have liked to see if those protective goggles would filter out all the visible light had you passed the beam through it alone

So going out side in sunlight your eyes are exposed to a pretty high amount of IR I can't imagine a low powered green laser with some leakage causing issues unless you stare into the laser or a reflect into your eyes for a period of time. I mean if it was say over 100mw yeah get some protection but at the lower level doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I work with a lot of IR related stuff with satellites and I can say for a fact your more likely to damage your eyes being out in direct sunlight.

Is it still dangerous if you look at the Green laser dot on the white wall?

Maybe I'm missing the obvious answer here, but didn't you kind of skip over the whole title of the video? It's not immediately obvious to me that seeing small amounts of IR in laser form is dangerous at all. In fact, I work around a lot of machinery that uses spinning IR laser turrets in highly controlled manufacturing areas and I have never heard eye safety once be mentioned.

At about 05:57 - 06:01 you state the 532nm LASER pointer you are showing is "rated at 35mW", yet the label clearly rates it at < 1mW (a Class 2 == Class II LASER). I see similar disparities at other points in the video, but the image at this timestamp is very clear.
Have you done something to boost the output power of these pointers, or are you stipulating a measured value (which indicates either very miscalibrated equipment or incredibly erroneous labeling)?

hey, do you know where i can get an ir filter for a laser 303 and also can you put a filter in yourself

What about if you just use it and don’t shine it in your eyes, should you be okay?

What's more powerful? Laser 301 (number 3) or laser 009 (number 2)

You didn't show how much power is in the infrared leak. Maybe not that much?
