The Andante assai deserves many t.v. commercials it should be known by everyone who has ears .I heard it on the radio when I was ten and have never tired of its gorgeousness and its wit. This is one of my favorite concertos! She plays beautifully, but (and I could've just been imagining things) at several moments it felt like the orchestra wasn't playing with her very well.

The performance of this concerto by Julia Fischer and the Bavarian Radio Orchestra under the direction of Pablo Heras Casado and the acoustics of the recording are a unique masterpiece on a par with the music of Prokofiev himself. This music could only have sounded like this in Prokofiev's head as he wrote it.
