I know a very fine violinist in the Boston area who told me she worked with Hahn at Curtis when Hahn was 10 years old. This woman told me "There was nothing to teach her. It was all there." The rarest of talents.

She navigates the fingerboard at 3:37 with so much precision while keeping her left hand and right arm in perfect sync and she makes it look so easy. What a talent.

I heard this piece for the first time on an LP in 1987 as performed by Igor Oistrakh. It was absolutely surreal, unlike any violin concerto I'd ever heard up to that point in my life. It instantly became my all-time favorite. I cannot describe why even now, years later, I can listen to it again and again. Hilary's performance is superb. Parts of this concerto are reminiscent of a beehive and all its energy; but at the end it soars like a bird going out of sight. Thank you, Hilary, and everyone who worked to bring us this magnificent piece of music.

This is absolutely fantastic. Hahn is out of this world. Listen from 2:38 to 3:52 as an example. This passage is very well played, you name them, by other great violinists. But no one can express like Hilary does. She is beyond technic, she's pure magic.

This concert leaves me speechless, dissonances that incredibly form the most consonant heaven, Prokofiev is a wizard. The performance is magically beautiful.
