BRIAN REESE
Founder & CEO of VA Claims Insider, Former Air Force Officer, and Author of You Deserve It

A CEO with PTSD. That encapsulates the world of this week’s Team Never Quit guest, Brian Reese. Here’s a military veteran entrepreneur serving other military veterans – over 15,000 vets needing a vast array of help – mental, disability ratings, compensation, and more. Brian, Marcus, and Morgan get “in the weeds’ as it relates to maximizing many forms of help for the veteran through his program, VA Claims Insider. Listen in to Brian’s vulnerable revelations of his personal challenges, and his ability to overcome and create a company whose prime directive is to teach and serve others. It’s okay not to be okay…

In this episode you will hear:
I’m sort of an amateur singer/songwriter.
A lot of vets have never filed a claim because they think “I’m not that disabled. Others have it worse, so I don’t deserve these benefits.” That’s complete bullsh*t.
There’s a mental barrier we have about getting help.
One of the core values of the Air Force is “service before self”. That doesn’t mean service at the expense of self.
If you can’ take care of anybody else, then you’re no good to the mission.
It takes less than 5 minutes to get yourself enrolled in VA health care.
Get a medical diagnosis of your condition ASAP.
First and foremost: Get yourself in VA health care, get a primary care provider, and get your stuff medically diagnosed in a medical record.
We’re trying to meet the military veteran before they even take off the uniform, then serve them at every point of life.
If I were king for a day, I would completely gut and overhaul the VA disability system. I’d take the word disability out of it. I would call Elon Musk, and ask him to come help me solve our problems.
Government organizations are not built for radical innovation.
It’s never too late to take advantage of everything veterans have worked for.
The VA disability process & the VA benefits process is never over unless you quit.

Being a military veteran is honor, commitment and respect. Just joining the military for men and women is challenging alone. By taking and passing that ASVAB test to doing the initial Physical and passing it too. Many civilians pretend when they play military video games but, most would not have the courage to join. Military Veterans will work on their now civilians jobs and observe, not complain and just watch the spoiled members of society who never been in the military. The best thing I remember is when I took myself to a college and register. I saw two (2) lines. One said loans and possible grants. The second said Military Veterans. The Loan and grant line had so many people in it that, I thought most of the school was in that line. The Military Veteran Line had just finish with one military veteran and now it was my turn. Someone in the other line said, you are in the wrong line. I just smiled and went on doing my enrollment in the Military Veteran Line at the college. After they checked my Montgomery GI Bill Education letter. Typed up information on the two (2) classes in college I was going to take. The last word was. You will receive tuition payment for college in about two (2) weeks. Plus thank you for serving. I went on my way and everyone was just looking at me in shocked. That is what is like being a seven (7) percent. Meaning only seven (7) percent served in Military Uniform. GOD speed military, GOD speed military veterans and GOD Bless America.

What he said about Grandfathers, Fathers and Sons being in the same fights i know for a fact is absolutely true. I am Retired Marine Corps Force Recon I enlisted in 1991 and Retired in 2015. My son didn't follow in my footsteps or his Grandfather's my father who was a Marine Grunt and Vietnam Veteran. He graduated in 2006 i was unable to be at his graduation due to the fact i was in Ramadi at the time. My first Deployment was in 2004 with the 24th MEU we deployed to Fallujah with 8th Marines during Operation Phantom Fury. I told my son what he was in for but he still wanted to serve. He enlisted in the Army June of 2006 after returning from Ramadi i went on to do 3 Deployments in Afghanistan. Before we deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 i went home on leave, and let me tell you my Mother was a complete mess. I come to find out that my son Zane is also deploying to Afghanistan at the same time. She says to me oh God please don't let anything happen to my only Grandson as well as my only son. I told her Mom we won't be actually together over there i said I'm a Marine and he's in the Army. She just broke down crying i felt completely terrible but i ensured her that he would be fine. We both made it back which was a huge relief for my mother, we both were in Afghanistan at the same time again it was my son second tour in Afghanistan and my third and final Deployment.

you gentlemen provide great services plural to your fellow veterans. I’m certain it’s true that without educating them and urging them to get the benefits they are entitled to, many never will.

Thou Shalt not Kill. Our pastor pointed out that these insane wars (based on lies) are the greatest evil on earth. In fact, to murder in war might be the worst sin of all. A man that enters rage when he catches his wife in an adulterous act, he might murder in haste . But to sign up willingly, travel knowingly, and kill with applause ? That might get your ticket punched right there. It took us 10 years to get one combat vet forgiven. Ten years of struggle. What about the soldier that fires a mortar into an Iraqi town and moments later is shot in the side of the fucking head? He didn’t get 10 minutes to ask for forgiveness. In fact, his pals are giving him the hip-hip-hurray. This world is filled with the wicked and the stupid. But May Gods light be so blinding that you lose control of your automobile and slide sideways into a telephone pole, decapitating everyone. But everyone survives. No scars even.
