How To Do Shoulder Dislocates

Shoulder dislocates are a shoulder mobility exercise that can improve flexibility in the upper body. Despite the name, dislocates do not dislocate the shoulder joint, and performing this exercise can improve shoulder health. Here, Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor Ryan demonstrates how to perform shoulder dislocate exercises.
How To Do Shoulder Dislocate Exercises
1. Stand with feet hip width apart, holding a resistance band or stick in front of your hips with hands wider than shoulder width apart and palms facing down.
2. Engage your core by pulling your ribs and pelvis together.
3. Inhale and lift the band or stick up over your head while keeping your arms straight. If your arms are bending, widen your grip.
4. Bring your arms behind your head, lowering the band or stick towards your glutes whiule keeping your arms straight.
5. Exhale and reverse the movement to return to the starting position, being careful to avoid arching the back.
6. Repeat for desired time or reps.
