I would say the main reason people like anime is because the stories are generally good. There are elements that only animation can do well to help tell a good story. That’s a disappointment and I hope you give it a chance one day!

I use to feel the same way about anime, but some anime has amazing storylines, characters development and gorgeous artwork. I would check out fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. That was the anime that changed my mind on anime

I know this vid is old. But you should really try Studio Ghibli if you haven't already. As a fan of disney classics you may appreciate the artistry, emotion and fantastical aspects as well as the heart warming and quaint traits of the stories as well as the music. Despite movies like spirited away and princess mononoke being the movies everyone talks about, movies like Howl's moving castle, Totoro and Ponyo may just pull on your heartstrings, even as a non anime fan. It's worth a look if you're curious and as a movie fan.

Its cool how you feel about anime but a neat little tid bit about it. . . When anime was first invented they wanted it to look as close to Disney animation as they could, (in particular, Snow White and The Seven Dwarves). They liked the way the dwarves looked so much, (ie. The large eyes, and other exaggerated features), that they tried their best to emulate that style.

Not all anime has the same art style. Yes a lot of the anime art styles have similarity's but they are not all the same for example if you compared the work of studio Ghibli to the style of Kouta Hirano you could easily see that the 2 different styles don't fit together.
Also there is the question of when the anime came out, a lot of what came out between the 90s and now has a very realistic look but if you keep looking further back from the 90s the less realistic it looks.

Also if you don't like newer styles of anime you could always try Lupin the 3rd.
