so if the question says calculate confidence interval, we always use standard error and not standard deviation?

Just making sure, confidence intervals are only used when the population is not normally distributed right? Or else there would be no point estimating the mean as it would just be equal to the sample mean?

Hi quick question, is the statement "we are 90% confident that the population mean lies within the interval (a, b)" a correct way to conclude? I just want to double check that I'm at no fault for stating this in my answers.
