My PC has been making this weird clicking/ticking noise, it’s like 8 months old, I take good care of it, never let dust settle in. It’s not the fans and not the HDD but I believe it’s the PSU cause it’s coming from the lower back I think, what do you guys think?

I have somewhat of a very close sound to this and it’s very annoying. I had a gaming laptop before and would rather hear loud fans over this noise 😣

My PSU also has this weird problem but the sounds are slightly louder, it kind of sounds like when I use my scroll wheel on my mouse. The noise goes away when I put my PC under stress but on idle it makes the noise.

Since i get comments for this in 2024, this PC is quite old now but people with older PC like me might still be facing this!

I found 3 possible solutions:
1) It is an issue with your PSU, the sound is very electrical but I was always hesitant to check this because I had a feeling the sound was not from there.

2)You have something touching your fans, possibly a wire!

3) Change your hard drive! Mechanical hard drive do this!

MY solution is a bit of a mystery still. I definitely did not swap my PSU I did make 3 big changes. I noticed when I played high demanding games such as Battlefield the sound would come up at specifically 60 degrees that was when my Fans would run very high speed too!

Get MSI afterburner and ram up your fan speeds for your GPU and see if the sound comes or not. I had a GTX 1060 before changing that I added more ram and that did take care of the sound. I also tinkered with the PC fans as well but they werent the problem. Then I changed my HDD to SSD and the sound never came and lastly changed my GPU. I genuinely believed making my GPU be less taxed ever so lightly even through adding more ram did the trick!

It’s the fans, trust me, this exact noise is happening on mine and I’ve replaced the HDD and PSU, and nothing changed.

Sounds like you have something rubbing against one of your fans! Open up the PC and check for any cables touching fans

This exact same sound happens to my PC, it's the hard drive since I've had it for like 7 years lmao

My old pc has been doing the same for years but i never cared cuz it's old. Except when my recent new build started doing it on different occasions, sometimes it would make a loud buzzing sound when playing and stops when i quit the game.

I have somewhat of a very close sound to this and it’s very annoying. it's like the pc is turning off and on from time to time.

Did you get this fixed? My PC does this exact sound but only when playing certain games. If simply doing some work or watching videos, it's fine. Does it for a split second when turning on the computer too.

Mine is the power supply cable, when the pc gets hot the wires make electrical noises and mess up the 3 things from the cable that go into the psu

My brand new msi a650gf 650w gold plus makes noise from the moment i turn it on and stops when turned off. The noise doesnt become louder when put under heavy load.

if the sound is more coming from the gpu its coil whine which is normal and can't harm the gpu but if it's the fan then it may be a bearing that's lose so it's causing slight wobble but it's more or less going to be the gpu hope this helps anyone

Check there are no labels, tags, cables, cable ties or any other foreign bodies being caught by anything spinning. Check the CPU cooler, the PSU fan, any intake and exhaust fans alike to make sure they're not the cause of the noise.

My laptop also does that even now, and later it would eventually just freeze for hours until I force power off it and it would be okay

Can someone tell me how to resolve this issue?
