EEVblog #868 - Keysight U1282A Multimeter Torture Test

Показать описание
Dave & Friends destroy a Keysight U1282A Multimeter.
Is it really IP67 rated & can withstand a 3m drop?
Only one way to find out, take it canyoning, then drop it, throw it from a moving car, run over it, and then drop it some more until it breaks!

"Why is Dave doing this on our road trip again?"
"He's an engineer, don't ask."

I'm not sure which I learn more about on this channel: electronics engineering, or fun Australian phrases. Either way awesome ;)

Many dislikes. I guess viewers hate to see things that work perfectly getting destroyed.

Why so many dislikes? IMO it's great that Dave shows us how tough these meters are.

Package it up and send it in for a warranty repair. 😎😎😎

"Why is it squished like that?" I believe that the meter was dropped off a a dam then thrown against a wall several times...

would it bounce less high if the batteries were empty? :P

Fake! Everybody knows that things fall up and not down in Australia.

There's equipment that is so cheap that it doesn't hurt when it gets destroyed.
Then there's equipment that's expensive and easily destroyed.
And then there's stuff like this, an $800 mutlimeter that doesn't even look abused unless run over by a car and still works after that.

I think the 2 more important and realistic tests are: 1) Put in A and mA and probe 220V mains. 2) Drop it from 1.5m (5 feet) and check the calibration after 10 drops.

That is one hell of a tough multimeter. The fact that it survived a car driving over it says everything. Now to check if it's still within it's cal spec!

Watching this many years after owning a U1282A still in pretty good shape after all these years. It is incredible to see how well the meter handled all this abuse. Pretty good meter.

Highest marks to the meters design for living up to and beyond its impact rating, excellent demo for Keysight durability - the meter met its factory rating and was still working - but they felt they needed to destroy it - what a complete waste of a very expensive meter.

*What do you prove treating a good piece of equipment like this, thumbs down*.

Keysight obviously worked their magic coz I'm wanting one of these now. Awesome advertising :) I reckon a bit of work and it'll still chooch.

Not sure what camera you were using but with a cased camera like a GoPro, a bit of Rain-X on the lens window keeps the water off for a clear image.
