What is embarrassing, is to let a 85 year old woman, who was trying to be polite and interested, being abused. By a person looking for conflict, while purposely wearing a traditional african outfit (no problem with that, everybody has to be proud of a cultural heritage). People are so afraid being accused of racism (and true racism HAS to be fought against) that they don't have the courage to say "no" to questionable situations anymore. And I say no, this was not racism.

To go out of your way to look as foreign as possible and then pretend to be offended when you’re asked about your heritage is not just ridiculous but, more likely, contrived.

Marlene Headley aka Ngozi Fulani is from Willesden, London and has parents originally from Barbados. OK to call yourself what you want and dress how you please, but why be offended when asked about your origins? This woman clearly has an agenda defined by creating conflict.

It was a deliberate act by the 'victim' to engineer this act. She is a known anti royalist who played the old dear like a violin.

Lady Susan should have a relative in the law-hopefully she takes that race-baiter to court.

Why is the fact this professional victim, recorded the whole conversation not being addressed. If she has not declared she was recording people, is she not in breach of certain laws, shows a total disregard of people's privacy and proves she has no decency or understanding of etiquette.

I dont think Lady Susan's questions were motivated by the color of her skin, but rather by the proud display of the African garments the woman was wearing. Generally when one wears the garments of ancestors, it gives them an opportunity to discuss ancestry and I do believe that is all the questions were in regard to. Not only was she proudly wearing her dress (which is not usual garb in the UK), she had also changed her more "ordinary" British name to a name of someone who would have emigrated from elsewhere. The only other people wearing non traditional garments were indeed from other countries. It does not mean they were treated with racial injustice. Now, explain to me how the CEO can run a charity for African and Caribbean women domestic violence victims only and claim to totally understand "prejudice?" Victims are victims. She came dressed to stand out and show her ancestral roots but then was totally offended when asked about them. Makes no sense. She knew what Lady Susan was asking her long before the conversation went South and made the conversation difficult herself. I think she is guilty of not being a gracious guest by attempting to evade answering Lady Susan. If you do your research, this charity was not invited firsthand, but heard about it from one that was and piggybacked from there. So, she wasn't supposed to be there. She's been tweeting about racial inequality by the Royals "BEFORE" this incident so was that her AGENDA all along? So, there is much more to this story. Lady Susan is from another generation and while her approach is old school, it should not have been "traumatizing" to a professional woman who runs a charity empowering women. While she stated all she could do was hover in a corner, pictures show her milling about and talking with others, including Queen Camilla, after the incident, not frozen in fear. If she can't excuse herself and avoid a life altering traumatic conversation with an elderly white woman without having the backup of the media, my confidence in her as a woman who can help domestic violence victims goes down significantly. And she struck me as highly intelligent! No???

I'm very disappointed that the news media are not doing due diligence in researching all the facts of this fiasco and reporting accordingly rather than accepting things without question or further research. Very sad.

Offence was taken where non was intended. If Lady Susan was so prejudiced she wouldn't have stopped to even speak to her.

There is transcript being played by the BBC of the conversation with no explanation of how this was obtained or verified as accurate. This the current standard of broadcasting by the BBC who ran the headline racism at the palace. Essentially the broadcaster is judge and jury but would of course never challenge a black woman so case closed

The only mistake she made was talking to one of them.

If you go to an event dressed in a traditional African costume don’t get offended if someone asks about your heritage!!

How can the public be 50/50 over this? For goodness sake, the woman asked her an innocent question. She wasn't saying "you're not from the UK, you dont belong here". She was asking what the heritage was of the woman in question. The woman offended was dressed in an elaborate costume representing her culture. Yet she takes offence when someone asks with interest where her heritage is. To take offence at that is just pure victimhood. Some people clearly love playing a victim. A complete misery guts with no manners or respect for the innocent lady asking her an innocent question.

The only way it was embarrassing for the Royal Family was that they acted to ask her to resign without first investigating further. If they had investigated they would have quickly learnt that this was a carefully orchestrated setup. This woman, an avowed supporter and confidant of Me-again who deliberately used an African name despite her real much more anglicised name deliberately answered every question vaguely in order to elicit more and more probing questions. A disgusting setup that should be called as such by everyone.

This stinks of Markle. The black lady is the daughter if their photographer! Lady Susan is in her eightees, and was trying to make conversation. I feel sorry for her. And who wears a getup like that at a Palace function? It screamed 'ask me where I'm from'

The Royal Family are a complete embarrassment. Instead of taking time to investigate this properly they heard the word racist and the panicked. If they had looked at the circumstances they would have smelled a large rat .It was all about power and it seems Miss Marlene has all of it.
