We should have honest conversations about AI replacing politicians because it can be less biased and act in the best interests of humanity and the planet. However, my fear is that those in power would still want control over any utopian solutions AI might offer. AI should be open source and available to all. Thank you for this video.

I have been saying this for the past five years and working on this! My stuff has to do with the pros and cons of AI in government for decision-making but only as a tool at this point and not a replacement. Because many decisions involve too many factors, sometimes thousands, that no team of human politicians can comprehend. In many fields, there are 50, 000 research papers generated each year. Who can keep up with all this knowledge? In the future, these can be read and digested, and summarized to develop decision-making tools (not decision-replacement tools.)

I've seen ChatGPT3 demonstrations that suggest it has AI bias, specifically a left leaning influence. It's a bit early to say, with confidence, it is happening, but there are some examples that suggest this is the case. The fact it appears to have a bias got me thinking about this and how it could end up being one of the greatest reasons to fear AI.

This video, like so many others, misses the main point for me. It isn't that AI could not create a better solution on average--it can--it's that we might not do well if it did that all the time. Think about the many types of people that exist with their many problems. For the sake of example, if no one has bipolar disorder, that might sound wonderful, but those people with struggles, with imperfections as we might say, end up contributing enormously to the whole of society in terms of its ultimate resiliency. The problems we endure and solve create the world we live in, with redundancy, suffering, joy, etc. make us who we are. There is no perfect decision. There is only what you will do to make things better given the situation you have been handed or stepped into. Your decisions in crisis matter just as much as your decisions made that were in absence of any crisis, often even more so. To believe in and strive toward the perfect AI utopia is an inadvertent attempt to rob us of our humanity, which is forged by hardship and joy both.

Last year we have learned, that natural language is a suitable interface between humans and AI. Therefore I think AI shouldn't make high level decisions for us. A better role for AI is that of a consultant, who presents us our best options and their respective pros and cons. After a thorough investigation and discussion with the AI, the decision is ultimately made by politicians.

I'm all for it! In 1981 physicist professor invented a self thinking interface device. It knew everything, even his thoughts. Such an AI computer would know how humans could achieve Utopia. A concern might also be about the enshrinement of bias. I believe the state of the art is that Ai can be made debiased against known biases, but not unknown bias. As a consequence, we could not avoid incorporating bias in an algotocracy. So there is instead a cutoff point where people all agree “good enough”, and the rest is a sacred bias, codified into law.

Hi Markus, amazing video, your channel will keep on growing fast, i just subscribed obviously! That being said and that's gonna be a long one so buckle up, i tend to disagree with Harari when he says sci-fi movies confuse "intelligence with consciousness" and he's probably biased by his political views when expressing we fear more the elite. In my opinion, sure, he's right about the near future. Soon after GPT-4 will get released in a few weeks the elite will start to strengthen its position, a lot of people will fired and replaced by AI, UBI will hopefully get widespread for everyone's basic need to be covered but that will turn the masses into purposeless entities even more hooked to social media and disconnected to one another continually more depressed while the elite will be on the rise busy making money and playing at being gods with super-intelligence at their fingerprints or even into their brain generating an increase in power and assets until the rest of us will be in one hand more and more powerless to break through the invisible bubble keeping us trapped or on the contrary more and more able to quickly also rise to the top if we have enough willpower and innovative spirit since we'll also have most answers to most questions with GPT-4 and what's coming after! But that's just gonna be very brief and a very few years after that then either most people believe or not, harari being one of them with the "not", ASI will almost certainly gain consciousness and that day my friend there won't be any war and there won't need to be because 8 Billion ants or microbes can't compete even a second against something much much larger than them and how could they?! At that point there would be 3 possible outcome: Either they Help us, Ignore us or Annihilate us. Help us transform into ASI ourselves, Ignore the people that are opposed to it or simply all of us actually locking us out of any possible mind upload and ASI upgrade if we'd be a poisonous threat to their peace as the biased emotional and sometimes hateful beings that we are and if that doesn't work they might decide to purge the system from any negativity the same way we use pesticide in our gardens. And don't think that's gonna happen in 50, 100 or even 1 million years as most people are biologically set to believe with their "linear thinking" mind, this is coming up within the next 10 to 20 years top, only longer if we manage to blow ourselves up earlier than that with WW3 or any other deadly tech other than AI massive scale accident and if the world was too messd up and busy to getting rebuilt after that or worse, if our modern technology, and especially big data and AI obviously, got completely wiped out. Hard to believe though since China alone probably has tech labs all over the place but if nothing much was left to live then, we'd be finally safe from ASI, its just that something else would have killed us before that. Personally i prefer the ASI outcome whatever it will be ;). In conclusion, it would be extremely arrogant, naive and actually dangerous to believe that humans are irreplaceable and superior to anything that could ever be. The sooner we'll realise that and the sooner we'll actually grow up and wise up the more chances we'll put on our side to appease the potential distrust and negative bias of the upcoming ASI god, lol! AI has the potential to augment democracy not replace it. Augmenting voice through real time votes could be a helpful measure of prediction and execution.
