Jesus told Peter he would build the church upon "this rock" referring to Himself. The word He used to refer to Peter in that phrase means a pebble; similar to the Rock in many ways, but not big enough to build on like Him, the cornerstone.

It's pretty clear if you read it in the language it was written. Christ says to call NO MAN father. Pope= father of fathers. Later in scripture we're told not to have leaders.
