I majored in finance. And this is what I think all new graduates should consider. Alternate living plans for four years after school. The money one can save on housing for four years can be surprising. Once one is out of school they are ready to spread their wings and be an adult. But they do not have any major purchasing power other than what the employer allows them. The most traditional plan is roommates. Share the living expenses with others. The lack of privacy and annoying people may be the cost. But one can save money. The next plan is to live with relatives on reduced rent. Going back home for four years is not a major embarrassment if one can save enough money pay down 30% on a starter home. Reaching goals is what matters. The unconventional style of living in a van or camper. I wish I would have chosen this right after leaving the military, then graduating from college. All the best-paying jobs will be in major urban areas. If one saves $1, 200 a month for 48 months which could easily be monthly rent in any major city, that would be $57, 600. To save $30, 000 in four years would be 52% of that or $625 a month. People starting out on their own are crucified by housing costs. It's all about thinking in steps and achieving goals and paying little attention to others.

Dr. Webb you continue to amaze me with your very solid, logical thoughts & insights. My son is 1st yr med student & I send your videos to him, to keep him motivated for the long haul. He is very strong willed, but even he gets discouraged, that is when I send him 1 of your videos.

The mindset that failure is just a step in learing is great! We all can learn and improve from this situation and this is what should thrive us!

Looked into Dave Ramsey because of your debt videos!! He’s blunt but amazing, and it’s helped my financial literacy tremendously as I head into debt-filled med school lol

I think the last point is actually very important though it often gets overlooked. I feel like most medical students and residents get so caught up in pursuing their chosen specialties and career (which is totally understandable) that the bigger picture sometimes gets lost. We've been lucky enough to live in a country where plastic surgeons can stick to plastic surgery and dermatologists can stick to dermatology, but times like this prove the importance of being ready for anything.

Going to start reading more medical journals and articles weekly to keep my knowledge up to date. Not going to rely on word to mouth practices

Dr. Webb this sounds ideal, not everyone is living above their means, I was in Texas and just moved back to NYC the job market pays very low there. The apt are expensive, the gas is cheap but the cost for living is high compared to the wages. Lets be real, college student rarely get a chance to save money, furthermore medical students emergency funds for most American's has been depleted a long time ago. The American society was/is built on credit and most people (NOT ME) live on credit with the HOPE to pay it back. It sounds good but not necessarily achievable. Give people a alternative plan a COVID19 back up plan. Thats why the Government is intervening as they know this was an unexpected event.

What do you think about Michael Reeve's surgery robot? It's pretty new, if you haven't seen it yet you should look into it.

"Reduced salaries"? Salaries of essential workers should be increased because they're risking their and their family's lives.

Hey Dr. Webb I’ve been coming across a lot of products on the web for stretching your back. For example, a company called Purely Posture makes an item called “Lumbar Relief Back Stretcher.” Is this type of product safe for the health of the spine?

Wife and I are 55, we both live like we're struggling college students (I'm retired, she's retirement-eligible but continues to work).
