When you pay people starvation wages they have very little incentive to continue working for you. They have better thing to do with their time labor.

This video is incredibly misleading. The main reason people are leaving is pay. Employers think 20$ an hour is a lot, but it's not even enough to rent a 1 bedroom apartment. I don't feel bad for any of these companies.

Pay people and give them real benefits wages are down an benefits are gone and so are the workers

I don't want to make such low wages with no benefits at my age. They don't pay me enough only to be bullied at my job. I quit 3 years ago, I've never been happier.

A CEO at burger King said that their employees aren't worth better wages...all the employees walked out... employees are fighting back.... good for them

Why is this happening, says the very employers that laid thousands upon thousands of people in the early 2000s. I watched it all happen as a teenager and people wonder why people of my generation (millennials) are not loyal to companies. Why should I be loyal to companies when companies are not loyal to their very workers? They are quick to fire and lay people off with no problem. I came home from high school to see my mother sobbing uncontrollable after being laid off in the early 2000s and I came to the conclusion that these companies do not care about their employees. They don't care about the people that have been there for decades--they'll fire them too for someone that would work for less. They continue to outsource jobs because these companies are cheap and they're dodging taxes. The PTO that American companies give is laughable compared to what is offered in Europe. Expecting parents don't get enough leave and many fathers don't even get to go on leave after the birth of their child and the SHOULD. As a 30-something woman, all I see or hear is companies screaming at the top of their lungs, work for us, but we'll fire you whenever we want and we don't care how this effects you and your family. These companies do not care about their employees mental health. They don't care if there's a death in the family. They just want to work you, then you retire and drop dead. What a crappy life to live and I want no part of it and I think this pandemic made a lot of people move around their priorities. Because life is too precious to WASTE it working for people that do not care about you.

Inflation is 8.5% and typical corporate annual raise is 3%.

Do the math

I am 61 years old with health issues. I plan on ridding out the clock to retire. I don't want to work for stravation wages.

Who want want to live in area where rent and regulations are so high? California in general is a horrendous state to live and its sad because it also has some of the most beautiful scenery to offer. But scenery doesn't pay the bills so.

In the last 2 years I know one person that retired, one that cut her hours back to focus on family, THREE that died from Covid. Are they forgetting those people that died??? I quit the high stress healthcare job, took some time off, then went back part time to a job that is much less stressful.

The reason obviously, of which not stated, at least in Bay area and other metro areas is....the cost of housing!!

I work three jobs and its unsurprising how many people come and go from all but one of them.

the exception has a super chill work environment and management consists of top notch folks who really watch out for their subordinates.

it really does make a difference when the company you work for isn't trying to work you over..

Pay more and treat workers better and people won’t quit. The math is not making sense, paying low wages & charging an arm & leg for rent/mortgage is not helping America.

Employer's still aren't seriously hiring. I'm looking and most don't reply to you or they have job listing that say hourly pay starting rage from $8 to $15. That's ridiculous.

Companies are getting too big and the gov. and the states are too willing to help them out at the expense of small business. Walmart comes to mind. Once they have the market they can pay their employees what ever they want and charge what ever they want for the products. But in the end this consumer driven market will collapse because the people who buy the products and services dont get paid enough to keep the system going. Now people are recognizing that what they get paid doesn't pay the bills, so there is no incentive to work. We have reached that point.

When you pay your workers starvation wages and they can't even afford the basics of life, they quit and get something better. Maybe if these employers paid a living wage they would hold on to employees

This whole “where are the workers” nonsense is such bull. I’ve been looking passively for over a year, actively for two months now and the problem isn’t that there is a lack of workers, skilled and experienced in my case

The problem is I’m personally not willing to accept starvation wages and a lack of reasonable flexibility. Not willing to continue risking my health going into the office, not to mention wasting money - hello inflation - to do what can be done from my home. Ask these companies why they pivoted so quickly (literally overnight) away from remote work postings, and that’s part of your answer as well

I had one company call me to ask what the least I would accept is, then they’d follow up with an interview.
They never did and I got the official “no” email yesterday 🙄 two months later
So, ask if they’re actually legit hiring or wasting people’s time going through the motions. All bs
