You can do that without the coat hanger. Just put the foil in directly.

The most easy test if a cleaner works is when the result is ... clean 😊

There iso regs for this test if you want your sonicbath a pharmaceutical levels, cut the aluminium foil into strips approx 1 cm / 1/2 inch. Make a grid with tape (3 strips going left to right, 3 strips going up and down) at the inter section of the grid, hand the strips so they are about 1cm/ 1/2 inch from the bottom, ensure you have filled the bath to the fill line then turn on for 5min, you'll be able so see the strips decompose and be able to track what area is working the best and if and area stops working, be sure to clean out the bath after as there will be little bits of aluminium in the bath

I have that same cleaner and can't say I've been all that impressed with it. It doesn't seem to do anything at all. I can see the parts vibrating inside but it don't do anything at all to clean them unless I use some pretty nasty chemicals, which would clean the parts without the ultrasonic bit just the same.
I tried the aluminum foil trick and it turned the water gray and turned the tub black around the sides.

If you have earbuds on or if your on the phone and put your head gradually closer it will make the same sound it did in the video too. Watch your ears though!

Forgive my ignorance, i have no experience with ultrasonic parts cleaners. Does that mean they aren't suitable for aluminum parts?

The cool thing about a trade school, the teacher, standing next to the hot tank, holds a piston over his head, and says this is why you need to take EVERYTHING out of the block and heads and only cast iron and forged steel go in this tank (dipping piston in the tank, and a cloud of aluminum washes off the outer surface of the piston) that super saturated sodium hydroxide solution is some vicious stuff.

Is it bad that mine rips 4 inch holes in aluminum foil I think it's too powerful for carburetors because it seems eat the carburetors

please use sonochecks next time.. the foil test has been long proven as inaccurate. i supply Elma ultrasonic cleaners through work and this is the only way anyone who cares about their machines should test them. saying that if its only for personal or low end use who cares, cavitation testing is only important for medical/industrial applications.
