$30 Casio = 600ft Under Water?!

Casio A158WA is rated for 30 Meter water resistance, but it can do much more than that. Today we test out the theory of water resistance and what it means. Is it just splash proof or is it more than that?

Thanks to ISO 22810 that is on all modern watches, 30M really means 30M unless the gaskets degrade over time. This Casio took a heck of a lot more than that to finally break.

As a note: ISO22810 is the spec all watches have to meet. Dress watches up to dive watches. It’s designed to address ambiguity of water resistance in ‘watches, so yes, your watch meets those specific depths. Obviously most of us aren’t comfortable trying it, but they are. 🎉

2:39 you're 40 meters down below trapped and about to run out of oxygen and your casio watch beeps to tell you it's 11 o'clock.

Casio delivers.
No BS, no fancy talk, just down to earth, affordable quality stuff.
Love it.

I'm surprised. I knew it could go the full 30. But 200 is incredible.

As a keen metal detector enthusiast, I've found dozens of wrist watches in the ocean. From $1 to $1800 watches. The ONLY, and I mean literally, the only watches that ever survive the roughest surf conditions are Casio watches. They are unkillable. They can be slammed on rocks, buries meters below sand and tumbled for years and not die. I found one last night with a flat battery, been there at least a few years. I guarantee it'll work with a new battery. lol

I go surfing in the north sea almost every week and I always wear the same f91w while surfing for at least 7 years now, and it is still going strong.

Apple : *throwing tantrum at 40m*
Casio : 'hey man it's 11 am'

I had no idea it could go down to such depths below sea level and still function as intended! One of the reason why I will forever trust Casio's brand!

I had casio rated as WR(lowest rating) only, wich means good enough for washing hands only..I used it for swimming for years and never had any issues with it..casio's are capable far more then they claim

I have been diving in the Red Sea with exactly that Casio down to 40m. No problems, also years later. I have also dived with a F91W down to the same depths, also no problems. Wish I had the confidence in my other 30m WR watches. It is so confusing to consumers, as dress watches that are 30m WR cannot possibly do that

Great video! Thank you for sacrificing a God Tier watch in proof that Casio 30m water resistance over passes its statement. Other fancy and expensive watches that claim 30m you can barely wash your hands with them. You showed this Casio did not just surpassed its WR ratings but also was submerged in water for a long period of time.

If you’re gonna go digital go Casio!!!! Can’t go wrong. We all need at least one digital in the collection.

I Love this....proof that a $30 watch is better than ridiculously expensive watches. I couldn't fine a direct comparison but thats a greater depth than two Statue of Libertys stacked.

Safe pressure rating on the vintage 30m Casios is definitely deeper than what's stated, and i don't think most other brands have that same degree of reliability. It's as if Casio deliberately overbuilt the resistance. However, i've always thought that digital quartz are inherently more robust; i'm curious as to how analogs like MQ-24 and MTP-1095 (a dress watch) can hold against pressure.

This was an awesome showcase! One watch that comes to mind is the Hamilton khaki king. I own one and never once have ever thought about 50m of water resistance being too little. Then you watch a review of it and that’s on almost all of the negatives list for it. I think crazy water resistance requirements for a watch to be “good” is ridiculous.

I went diving for my yacht mooring while wearing my CASIO - W800H-1AV | Black Digital Watch. I bought it when a guy said this was all he needed when travelling around Australia. The only reason I don't wear it diving anymore is because I had a crazy elevator door in Malaysia, close on my wrist watch and it ripped one of the holes holding the strap spring bar. It could pop out at any time and fall of my wrist now. Best watch I had ever owned.

If it's like G-shocks I opened the back is holds the buzzer so it is not surprising that the buzzer stopped when you removed the back. There is often a tiny spring which makes electrical contact. Excellent video, thanks.

There's a very good chance the beeping stopped when you removed the back plate, because the back plate contains the speaker. Which just happens to look like a sticker.
