I've had this problem before, I used wire cutters to bite into the little bit of the key sticking out and it just slid right out. I thought about needle nosed, but they didn't get enough grip.

Or with that much of the end sticking out you could have just used a pair of needle noise pliers

Take a strong magnet, put it to the head of the key, touch the rest inside the lock, pull it out. Works perfectly! Thank me later! Lol

This is great if it works(never tried this method) my go -to is a needle or a sharp utility knife. Keys are soft and you can get a good “indent” that (usually ) can get you some decent leverage to pull out …

For deeper keys, I pound a length of iron wire flat and then file hook shape, and then rake out the key.

I carry a lighter with me everyday, but not a hot glue stick. Being a woman who doesn't wear makeup, I guess I could utilize my purse's makeup pouch more.

I tried doing this just moments ago...really I did and it didn't work. So I tried again and nothing, ....so I watched you're video again and realized that you gotta grab the glue stick closest to the key hole and wiggle it out and sure as rain in the month of May!, ...it worked!

I have a pair of old Curved Artery Forceps in my tool kit. Less mucking about than your method and probably more effective - but I'm not going to purposely break a key in a lock to find out for sure.
