My step father used to take me hunting every year. We had rifles but we never shot a deer. He showed me how to track the deer and then we would just watch when we found them. He was a tough Vietnam veteran so it was always amazing to me how much he just enjoyed enjoyed being in nature. To this day I go hunting almost every year with my kids but we never kill anything. It's a time to be away from daily technology, be together and enjoy the wonders of nature.

Haha that's amazing. About 15 years ago me and my buddies were driving down some dirt roads, and a large doe was laying in the road staring at us. We slowly got out of the vehicle to check on it and ended up petting it for 15 minutes. We thought it was hurt. Then it just stood up and walked away. Deer are amazing animals.

This happened to me about ten years ago. My husband and I went for a walk in the woods in the evening. The deer were beginning to come out to feed. As I was watching them, one buck began walking towards me. I started to back up and my husband told me to stay still and see what it would do. It slowly walked up to me and licked my hand! I very calmly reached out and touched it's face and antlers. It was in velvet and I was surprised to find the antlers felt warm. We stayed there for several minutes then quietly started to walk away. The buck actually began walking behind us for a couple minutes then went about foraging! It was a beautiful experience I'll never forget.

I know I would. This is the most beautiful and friendly deer I’ve ever seen

I had an amazing encounter with a huge buck elk. They were pulling apples off the tree that they could reach. I picked apples that they couldn't reach and threw the apples to them. Until the buck showed up. He came right up to me. I couldn't move. He had a huge rack of antlers. He took an apple out of my frozen hand the gentlest way ever. Then he turned and walked away. Animals have such pure hearts. ❤

As an avid outdoorsman and sportsman that videos domestic and wild deer, I’m pretty certain these young bucks were raised by humans by showing no fear of humans. Dad gets my Sportsman of the Year award for teaching his sons to appreciate wildlife by not being a deerslayer that kills every deer he sees. Congrats Dad.

Had this to happen while squirrel hunting. A squirrel Came up to me barking and was very brave. I assume it had babies. Shouldered my rifle and not hunted since then. I am a protector of all animals now. Nature is awesome.

This is almost magical. My father and my grandfather were deer hunters. But, at our lakehouse, we had a local buck named Buddy for years. We loved him and he and all of his family loved us.

We came back one spring and his collar was hanging from a fence post. It's still there. 30+ years later.

A hunter killed him.

That single deer death crushed more than a thousand souls.

I've never hurt an animal again aside from mosquitoes and houseflies.

I’m not a hunter, and after being similarly close to wild deer in my old area I could never shoot one. They’re quite gentle, curious and beautiful animals. I understand hunting and don’t hate on respectful, responsible hunters, but it’s something that will never be in my blood.

This happened to me a few years ago…I live in Maine and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. That kid got a once in a life time memory that will live with him that he’ll be telling his kids and grand kids. Those memories are the best. Happy for you guys and thanks for sharing!!!!
