I like to imagine that the animals that attack their reflections, like the roosters, have these internal dialogues like " Oh man, this guy's good, he's matching every attack I've thrown so far, he's as good as I am."

The cat touching her own ears after seeing them in the mirror was one of the cutest things ever.

I had a pet lizard who learned how reflections worked. At first he had an aggression response, puffing himself out. But then, he calmed down and started licking the mirror, turning his head from side to side, and even closing his eyes reaaallly slowly before opening them up quickly. Really reminded me of when I was a kid trying to see how I looked with my eyes closed.

I love how the elephant quickly realized it could see parts of its body it had never seen before! I remember doing that as a kid 😆

I once had a rooster who would just stand in front of a mirror admiring himself, this rooster I had was highly aggressive but I never saw him attack the mirror so I believe he knew it was himself.

That wasn't a Cheetah. That was a Jaguar. They saw their reflection as a threat and not a friend.

Is especially funny how some house cats go ballistic when they see a reflection, but one cat I have in particular is actually self-aware enough to recognize that's him.
