Quilt Binding 101 - Binding Quilt by Machine

This tutorial is for adding a quilt binding by machine. Great for beginning quilters.

You made an Excellent Video and the Method is WoW! I've used that method to bind my quilts too, but lost the video that showed me how and ran across yours which is the same but done clearly and precisely. tnx for sharing your way....(PS. I use a zipper foot to sew down the binding onto the front and it works really well).

When you turned the binding and did the final side what thread color did you use for your top and bottom thread?

I'm not only a brand new quilter, but brand new to sewing as well. I took a class last year from JoAnn's and we ran out of time before they showed us how to bind it. I've been afraid of it ever since, despite watching several videos on YouTube. I ran across yours this morning and it gave me enough courage to practice on a 15" square. Your directions were so easy to follow, I breezed through that with no problem. So I got brave enough to tackle my UFO, and had it finished by noon! It is far from perfect, but I am so thrilled! I've watched a dozen quilt binding videos to learn how to bind my first small landscape quilt. Your's was very easy to follow and now it's done. It's not perfect but done is better than perfect. Thanks for your instruction.

The problem I've run into too many times is that the stitches look amazing on the top side but look hideous on the back side where the stitches didn't grab the edge of the binding on the back of the quilt or sewing project.

Wow!  You have this down to a really smooth technique!  I am so glad I watched this.  As I have RA and my hands are effected, it is becoming more difficult to hand-sew binding and I have been searching for a way to attach the binding totally by machine.  Thank you.  Your work of making quilts for babies is so generous.  Keep up the good, loving work!  God bless!

When I do binding, my stitching shows on the back. I do my binding as you've shown how to. Any suggestions? I've only made 5 blankets and am almost ready to bind my 6th.Thank you for your videos
