The environment around you is KEY! As a former Marine it seems like the environment was never right when we were in the field. He looks like he is in the forest on a nice fall day. Not once did I get to train in perfect weather. God loves Marines like that. 😂😂

I'll borrow this and use it with my Scout Troop. Their enthusiasm for lighting lots of tinder and snuffing out fires knows no bounds.
This could be both successful and save a fortune in cotton pads!
A great tip on a few levels. Thank you (recent subscriber).

I've always built using a triangular shape but never thought of having a Y to act as a lever for air intake.
Great stuff! Definitly gonna use that, thanks!!!

The best tips are like this, so simple you'll never forget them, but so handy you'll remember them when need be.

One should have everything ready to go before starting the fire starter. Put the fire starter in the prepared tinder bundle then light it. The wind will help stoke the bundle. Then put the bundle in the properly arranged fire wood. Again the wind will be a benefit if you're fire crafting is adequate.
