Boone @ Vero Beach 11 27 2020

As the Florida high school Football Season comes to an end, we want to feature one of the most exciting and closest playoff games of the year: Boone vs. Vero Beach played on November 27, 2020 in Vero Beach, FL. This game was the FHSAA Class 8A State Regional Final.

With solid play from junior QB Casey St. John, who threw for 322 yards and two TDs, the Boone Braves led much of the game and were ahead by 14 points well into the fourth quarter. But rallying behind senior QB Jackson Nairn, who threw for 369 yards and 2 TDs, the Vero Beach Fighting Indians lived up to their name and did not give up. Indians senior Bobby McMillian scored 2 late TDs as he willed the Indians into overtime.

In OT, Vero Beach scored first off of a 10 yard Nairn TD throw to senior CB Ephraim Floyd, and senior kicker Gabriel Espinosa made the extra point. The Indians were up 7. But Boone came right back with a TD run from senior CB Jackevis Lovett. Boone was ready to tie it up, but Vero Beach senior Nijah Brown blocked the extra point kick. Overtime ended with the Vero Beach Indians winning 35-34 in a true nailbiter. Check out the highlights from this great playoff game!
