As of the end of July 2022, Southwest Airlines flight credits no longer expire after 1 year.
This means you do not need to worry about expiration dates of flight credits when deciding if you should transfer flight credits to another person after cancelling a Wanna Get Away Plus fare.

SO in your example, if I booked the 7 pm flight, at what time can I check to see if a seat is available and change in an earlier flight? Also do you forsee any issues in adding a companion that close to departure?

thanks for the video. One question - in your example on the day of departure if i want to book the 11:30 am flight is that possible ? Reason i ask is there is clearly availability for the flight but " Wanna get away plus" fare is sold out.
