Evil Morty probably just meant that revenge never made him feel better because he himself knows what it is like to enact revenge on Ricks that have mistreated him.

20:49 You're overthinking it. I think this pretty much sums up how he felt about getting his own revenge. He killed his Rick, he killed the entire citadel, and he won. Yet revenge isn't a magic cure all trauma deal, it didn't make his trauma magically go away.

You missed the parts in S07E05 where, repeatedly Evil Morty actively sought Rick’s validation. He also showed a bit of jealousy by saying “unlike you, I don’t care if he(Morty Prime) dies”.

He ended his appearance by telling Rick that he is different and maybe he could use that.

Evil Morty will kidnap and replace Morty Prime next season to spend time with Rick in an attempt to feel loved

Evil Morty is the best antagonist in this show, and despite having little screen time he is alluded to before he’s ever seen. At one point Rick makes a warning about a Morty who gets too confident or too smart or something. I think that “Evil Morty” definitely should return.
