PEMA or Parenthesis Exponents Multiplication Addition
Rewrite:
4 ( 10 + 15 * 5 ^ -1 * 4 - 2 * 2)
4 ( 10 + 3 * 4 + (-2 * 2))
4 ( 10 + 12 + (-4))
4 ( -4 + 10 + 12)
4 ( 18)
4 * 8 is 32 and 4 * 10 is 40 so 40 and 32 is 72

Final answer 72.

negative exponent used to turn division into multiplication. then once all the exponents and multiplication is done all you have left is addition.

Trick to subtraction is to read it as negative x NOT minus x. If you do that you can turn subtraction into addition. PEMA is a lot easier to remember with the funny phrase Please Excuse My Attitude.

First off there're not brackets its parentheses but brackets are what holds whole equation together.
