Brother you are a literal LIFE SAVER. Just bought a used 2016 Passat and it’s warming up in Texas and my driver side was shooting out 90° air. Little nudge and the servo moved! Didn’t even have to take the panel off you can get to the servo with an extra long screwdriver right under the steering wheel!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Thanks for this video man! Nudged it with a long screw driver without removing the panel and it worked. Appreciate people like you saving the rest of us.

Thanks so much for this video! Your tip worked on my 2016 Passat. At first I tried accessing the arm from under the steering column with a long screwdriver as others have suggested in the comments, but it wouldn’t budge. So I removed the side panel under the dash and gave the arm a hard push with a screwdriver and it finally moved back into the ‘cold’ position. In my case it seems the arm was stuck pretty hard, so it needed a some extra encouragement. Anyway, many

Thank you for making this video! I recently had the vents on the left side of my 2015 VW Passat blowing hot air and decided to try these steps before taking it into a dealership. After pushing and pulling on the actuator arm, as well as cycling the air dial through hot and cold, I was able to get the arm to fully move into position and now I have cold air blowing out again. Thanks again!!

2013 Passat TDI. Had the heater core replaced for the fourth time at dealer under extended warranty. Day after picking it up it warmed up a bit and notice no A/C on driver side, which worked fine when I dropped it off. Called dealer and setup appointment to bring it back. They said I had a bad actuator and it was going to be $700 to fix(probably just ran the codes, no physical inspection). I said you probably did something when you installed the new heater core. Rep said that wasn't part of the process of the repair. I said that I understand that but that actuator and arm are right above/forward of the core/pipes. He responded that they didn't break it and I had to pay $190 to get my car back for their diagnostic fee. Opening it up tomorrow and I bet like hell there will be an issue with that same arm that you showed in the video. Hoping to fix it myself and then I have a ticket in with VWofA to get my $190 back. Thanks for the video.

My HVAC is more basic, so no dual zone climate control. I have A/C blowing out of the defroster and a little on the left and right side vents but zero air blowing out the center two vents. I understand there are 3 actuators. Is it the actuator on the right side behind the glove box? I don't know if I can contort myself to look.

Great video! Thank you. I could do all checks and came to know that driver side actuator arm is not moving and its blowing hot air. Tried to poke it but still didn’t move like in the video. Not sure what could be a probable cause.. any ideas?

I have a 2012 VW Passat. I thought this might be my issue as well, but my door is closing all the way, and I do have some cool air coming out the driver side and center vents. Here is my issue, AC on, center vents only. Far right passenger sine 47 degrees, passenger center, 55 degrees, driver center 60 degrees and driver far left 70 degrees. AC was service, no leaks and pressure were good. The temp readings were taken at idle and 86 degrees outside. However, when taking these readings when the temp is 100 degrees outside, they are all 10+ degrees higher. I am assuming there might be another actuator causing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey I have a similar problem... however, I got AC on the pax side but not the driver side...

How did you remove the panel? Is there screws or just "bending?"

why does pushing the actuator make it move to the correct position? is it stuck on something? I tried to push mine and nothing happened. Maybe the actuator is totally broken? Im wondering what caused the actuator in your video to move to the proper position.

How did you remove the side panel so I can access it? Did you have to remove the whole center console?
